There are reasons they are more expensive. I got a TGM220 for €190 incl delivery. This is a PVR box capable of recording to a USB key or ext, HD. I got it for this reason and since my plasma has no scart connection, the TGM220 outputs component which was a big improvement over scart.

I also have a 900HD, a fix is also due for that soon, again it is a PVR box and has HDMI output which is a massive improvement, the picture quality on large LCDs is appalling due to the CC's poor bitrate, the upscaled HDMI output is a amazing compared to any scart output I have seen. I have used a sagem, nokia and 2 different subbed boxes on a 37" LCD and 50" plasma and the HDMI is a whole different story. If you are forking out €1500+ on a LCD & cable box, for that money I would sooner get a slightly lower spec LCD and a higher spec HDMI box to go with it, for the same €1,500 you will have a better picture quality than using a poor box feeding into a high spec LCD. A weak link in the chain is unneccesary.

The non-linux PVR boxes are a lot more expensive than a standard KV too.

Thanks for that, Evastar. Have a dbox and a replay lite, so here's hoping.

Highly unlikely there will ever be a fix for the Replay Lite, there wasn't one for the pvr at christmas.

Because the ITgate box is a Linux box do you think there will be a fix for other Linux boxes soon??

The next linux box to be fixed will probably be the abcom ipbox 900HD & 9000HD, AKA cuberevo mini 900 & cuberevo 9000.

These are sold by the same place that sell the itgates, they are linked to programmers who fixed the itgates. Thing is most other boxes like dbox or dreambox will not have any real software support associated with the people who sell them. Also since there are only 2 boxes running now the shops & their programmers would have a vested interest not to fix other boxes, even if they could (there are several different itgates, similar software though). KV is sold out due to the high demand, I expect sales of itgates will increase. If they released a fix usable on other boxes it would kill the golden goose. It would be nice if they did release it, but incredibly foolish too.

I am surprised dreambox or their "unassociated" programmers have not made a fix, esp. for non-cloned boxes. Or else make another clone-killer image that only works on legit boxes.

It will probably take independent programmers to fix the other linux boxes, I dunno if examining the files on the released fixed images will help them much.
