I have tried numberous times to burn VCD format onto a DVD disc. Ive also tried to burn mpeg clips and avi by converting them to dvd format using programs such as "sonic mydvd", but the files become extremely large. Is there a way i can burn VCD format onto a DVD or perhaps a way to convert the mpeg/avi so the file stays the same size?

You can Put VCD Files on to DVD without to much of a problem and you can fit 3 or 4 full movies on a DVD that way.....

First you need to De-Multiplex the VCD/Mpeg1 files into seperate audio and Video Files and then resample the VCD audio to 48000hz....

Then download and Install "Tmpgenc DVD Author" and Load your Mpeg1 Video and the resampled audio files onto it and add your Menu"s and Chapters and author them to DVD.....

You can also just let "Tmpgenc DVD Author" demux the audio and resample it but it will convert the audio to LPCM/Wav format which takes up as much space on the DVD as the Video does so it is better to resample the audio yourself and keep it in Mpeg1 layer2 format.....

    Cheers

I let TMPGEnc dvd author do the audio for me, and I still can get 4 movies on one disc.Everybody is telling me this is the wrong way to go, but it seems to work out just fine for me.(sometimes over 6 hours on one dvd)

another way is to get the very good free ware prog called burnatonce a web search will give you the download page.
open burnatonce choose mastering, then dvddata disc,
add files locate your svcd or vcd movie file and then burn it.
you can keep adding as many vcd or svcd movie files untill the dvd disc is full before burning thus giving you a single dvd disc with several movies on saving you loads of blank dvd's.
