The current release is 7.0.0.70 I believe, and have no idea when 7.01 would be released, did you read about new features for it somewhere or something?

I havent ran into any problems yet and I personally like the new look and feel that they gave it.

EDIT > I have one complaint. I hate how when you click close in iTunes it doesnt go to the system tray thing, it just closes out completely

    hmmmmnm....

That might well be why i've been having problems. I downloaded iTunes 7 + Ipod updater, installed and updated some choons on my ipod; and then about half way through the update, Itunes crashes. Now every time I reconnect and try to update, the thing crashes about 10 seconds after appearing. And ever since that, my ipod itself has crashed, full lock up, no response to anything until I reconnect it to the computer and it resets itself.

I've reinstalled the ipod's firmware and plugged it back into my ipod plug, but the problem still seems to be the same.

If there are any > 30mb MP3's (I.e Full albums as one MP3, or Mix sesions) then i'll delete them.

This is pretty crappy from apple TBH.

I aswell as a lot of other people HATE over-functionalised BLOATWARE that looses the original sleek, minimal reliability of the original versions which made it so popular!!

(not that the original iTunes was ever 'sleek & minimal' but atleast it did the damn job.)

    & Thats my two cents!

I also had problems with 7. On the mac itunes locked up when trying to sync ipod mini. Restored ipod several times to no avail. Then tried using USB cable and worked. I guess apple forgot to tell me firewire does not work with 7.0. Have not tried it with 7.0.1 yet.
I also got static with all my songs on my PC with itunes 7.0 but i think this is fixed with 7.0.1.

Im gonna confirm that its definately a filesize > 30mb problem...
I caught it tryna snyc with a full album .mp3' i've just about finished and the thing went and crashed during sync! Guess what happens when the ipod then tries to play that file??

    ipod crashes too!

    Here we go again!!!!!!!!
/me uninstalls itunes, installs the ipod updater, restores, reinstalls iTunes7 etc

My advice to ANYONE with an old version of itunes?
    STICK WITH IT!!!

I installed the updated version of iTunes7 (v7018). After having all sorts of problems with the first version I was prepared for the worst but was suprised when I didn't have any trouble at all. No audio or iPod trouble unlike before. I did elect not to install the iTunes updater. So far so good.

yeah, to be honest i'd been using the 2005 updater
    - which complained about ipodservice.exe version,
(when using the ipodservice which comes with itunes7)
so, cue alot of control-alt-del kill and running a
different version (~320kb) to get the updater to
    actually reflash the damn pod!

Good news is that its all working now and bar a little pod-lockup the other day, no futher trouble with iTunes7 :)

btw I highly reccomend turning off the sound enhancer and gapless playback and NOT putting any large jpegs or files over 30mb on your pod until a newer version of iTunes comes out.

dude itunes 7 sucks big time for me. its been giving me problems with downloading, transfering, and it dosnt recognise my ipod. i had to delete and uninstall everythign with itunes to fix it. reinstalling the older version didnt work so i went and searched for other itunes files and deleted them.

luckily i backedup all my ipod music with "podutil" so my music is safe.

everyone seems to have something bad ot say abotu itunes on all different sites, they say theres a big glitch. dont download it if you havnt already.
