that is why i ban people 1st then ask questions or close the thread when not posted in the correct or near correct forum. example of latter is this, http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-33/lg_ku970-861661/ or this http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-111/two_computer_to_a_single_lcd-862051/ people are supposed to do a search 1st but alot do not so we get all these repeat questions. now you can see why i have the highest post count on the site at just over 48.2k.
i especially like the ones that ask "how do i hook up my home theatre".im a man but i did read my fricken manual.im a mechanic, not a tech whiz so i really value the info i get here and try to put back what i can.that having been said,i always try to help myself first, and in doing so have peed on a lot of electric fences.{thanks 2oldgeek}.i know i get a little tired of seeing the same old questions time after time.i dont know if jaded is even the right word here.lol.AL
so he swore a few times who hasn't.most of us are adults and it wasnt personally aimed at anyone on here.
There are people who can handle it... but the greater good shouldnt HAVE to deal with it! Start being ok wid a pargrph fulz of txt N l33t sp33k cuz sum1can had3lz it? ? OH AND LETS NOT PUBLICLY SHAME ANNOYING ALL CAPS PEOPLE BECAUSE A FEW PEOPLE CAN HANDLE IT. You have to draw a line in the sand somewhere as to what kind of online community is acceptable to the majority because if one person isn't warned about excessive curses then it gives license for all to act that way. New, immature, jerks trying to push their limits are spawned in console forums daily.
I am of the opinion that when posting on a forum, whilst adhering to the forum's rules, you should be as civil as possible in any given situation. Typing in capitals and non-English is just moronic; it isn't the same as using bad language to accentuate a point. Personally I have no problem there and I think anyone who is disappointed by its usage in an environment such as this (especially here in aD's Safety Valve) is being somewhat naive. This is the internet after all, last time I checked it didn't come bubble wrapped!
Capitols have their place; you just should not use them all the time. If there is some serious warning I need to get across about a procedure, that part of the post will be in all caps...maybe red too. [rant] As for "Bad Language" I am of the mind that there is no such thing, with the possible exception of the doublespeak that corporations and governments use. Sure, there are words that will piss people off (like Nig*er)...but those people are ignorant racists who think that all black people are nig*ers. In fact, being a nig*er has nothing to do with race...it just means that you act niggerly; or rather, that you don't plan ahead, and you tend to do things in a half-A55'd dollar-short-day-late kind of way...if you do them at all. Personally, I can name more white nig*ers than black ones...yet racists like Jesse Jackson keep assuming that only black people are nig*ers, and therefor, it must be a racial slur. [/rant]
I should have said, "Typing your whole message in capitals is just moronic". So, now we have your opinion on one generally frowned upon term, would you like to continue through the rest? Heh.
jaded? .. pffftttt.. not so much jaded as thoroughly bored with the same old garbage over and over again. See.. I'm not even here really.. just had to get in touch with somebody asking a perfectly legit question about something I guess in the end I have overall responsibility for (whether I want to have it or not it seems.. hehehe) Jaded?.. nah.. bored?.. yes .. enough middle fingers?.. HELL NO!!!! copy/paste answerbot for the terminally thick and lazy? ... never.. nada.. not on your nelly.. currently recruiting chanops and perhaps admins.. check in on irc for details. also further to topic::: yes KB .. lets have some more insight into that wonderfully flawed psyche hey? There is no such thing as bad language.. I agree completely, they are ALL only words.. it's what people take from them that causes THEM to be offended.. the words are neutral in themselves as any clump of letters on a page or screen must be by their necessarily passive nature.. they just sit there, it's the reader who draws their own conclusion about their meanings.. As KBW points out very often.. Just because a word is considered pretty frikkin rude doesn't in and of itself make that word any more or less rude or offensive than any other.. In fact.. how about Salford.. that's a pretty rude word where I come from.. but it's even on google maps.. same as Scunthorpe.
I was told "negro" was originally a spanish word meaning black.not too sure on that as im not spanish. No hablas espanol.
It is...but there is a big difference between "Negro" and "Nigger"..."Negro" wasn't even a racial slur until rather recently...it was just another way of saying "black". But then, Black is almost a racial slur now...and "African American" isn't really accurate for someone born in the states; no one calls me a "European American"...soon we will just have to call eachother people...and we will have to learn to hate eachother for our personalities rather than our skin. Back to the discussion at hand....
