java runtime enviroment updates

    Everytime there is a new update the old one stays on the computer. they are all about 119mb each. can the old ones be removed, and why are they not over written like other update programs do?
    Sorry if this has been answered but i could not find anything with search> thank you.

    That's a good question!
    I normally uninstall the older version afterwards and everything seems to be fine.
    You could check on their website for more info. This is what I found on it.

    "Java allows multiple versions to co-exist. Installing a new version will not install on top of an older version, it will create another installed version. Uninstall the older version, first, if you don't want it."
