I have two .AVIs which I am trying to join together. I'm using VirtualDub 1.6.19. I have follwed the brief instructions from:
    http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?p=471498

    What i done:
    open the first avi file
set video to direct stream copy
set audio to full processing mode
set compression to mp3 (I picked MPEG Layer 3 and the top bit rate), pick your bitrate.
    save the file.

Should this work ok and how long should it take per file? The file is around 700MB and it looks like it'll take around 50mins per file. Is that right?

Five minutes per file for the audio conversion then fifteen-twenty minutes to join the two files.

I joined two 350Mb files in ten minutes changing audio from PCM to MP3

The problem is that sometimes the sync gets thrown off after joining.
