@andmerr sorry to have called you out like that I to have been bitten by the overtime bug lately! as I'm half delirious/sleep deprivated any more I was just illustrating a point this is kinda the response I expected though! thnx! I really didn't think you to be the down fall of our community just I needed a "guinea pig" so to speak and maybe I made a poor call that's really on you though you can personally make me wrong and I hope you do as this part of our/my community desperatly needs the influence!

Hi everyone, Its arguments similar to this that I think are causing many of the older/senior members to fade from the AD scene. I see more of this now than ever before. I don't know why exactly but it may have to do with the extremely large number of members this site has. Everyone makes mistakes and should be entitled to a few. We are all human. I belong to 5 different forums but consider this one home. I was asked to MOD one of the other sites but turned it down because of lack of time I could put into the job. I'm not some young kid, I'm 57 years old and manage a service department for major appliances with 20 techs so i don't have much free time.

The problem with cross over members from another site is that they show up as newbies just like everyone else. We have no way of knowing you might be a MOD or higher up member from a different site. One of the other sites I belong to has a place to log in an let that site know if you are a MOD or upper member from a different site so they can make adjustments to that members statis. Maybe something like that is needed on here. That may not have had any effect on this problem in this thread but might have helped to defuse it slightly.

Any MOD from any site has a HARD, THANKLESS job to do. They are not robots, they are human and as I stated before, humans make mistakes. I don't know what took place with this problem exactly and I'm not going to go back and research it. Drd made corrections as he thought necessary and that should be the end of it. Replaying the problem just makes it go on forever. If the world was perfect and this forum was perfect we wouldn't need MODS, but its not. Its time to move on and leave this problem behind. Just my opinion.

come on guys, lets put an end to the crap right now. with so many members here, there's no way we are all going to get along all the time, or see eye to eye on everything. so lets just all agree to disagree and be on our merry way.

to tell you the truth i wouldnt want that

i for one do not want to be treated different just because i might be a mod somewhere else

i want to be judged by the way i post here, by the way i try to help others

as i said before: i dont give a rats ass for post counts

there are way to many people with an enormous number of postings and with a scaring lack of knowledge

thus being judged by these facts is no good

yeah most of the people that have stuck around long enough after the auto promtte thing took place know that the persons status means nothing at all. back in the old days when seniors and addicts were hand picked by the mods and admins the status really meant something. and we are currently trying to figure out a way that we can once again give the good members a form of recognition that will have nothing to do with post counts. that or they might do away with the titles completely. That is somehting i dont totally agree with but i see where it would come in handy.

@UncasMS_3, I didn't post in this thread to start a debate, but in my opinion your wrong on you last statement.

If a well established long term member from another forum visits or joins a different forum, he should be welcomed as such. Yes a NEWBIE to this forum but someone that deserves at least acknowledgment of his or her work elsewhere. I'm not saying a MOD there should be a MOD here or that if they break our rules it should be overlooked. We could go on forever but it won't change anything or make what happened go away.
As I posted eariler, we need to move on from this point.

Well I don't see how you'll close this done without letting me put my 2 cents in ... seeing as how I'm mentioned a million times in this thread.

That guy was warned once. He was warned for posting in the wrong forum which he did again. Which is why he got the reponse he did. Try doing more homework next time.

    You sent me two PMs.

hey flip please read thoroughly was just wondering about my status I'm not bitching but I'm sure i noticed two distinct changes in the status of members here and I think I am being overlooked here I know I know wait patiently but I believe I have. I have tried many channels I have written to mods I think it was neph not sure and drd(admin?)neph? gave me a reply that i should wait and it would happen drd did not reply (I imagine he's got to be one of the busiestppl I will ever run across) but now I am sure I have seen a recent graduation so to speak.I have done a search on such things and it seems 25 post kills newbie status I'm @ 200+ posts and have been over 100 for a while now I like to think of my post as helpful and if I can't help someone I try to make sure all the information is there so that the more informed can give guidance. I'm having trouble believing some of the grads I have seen pass me by. I'm wondering if I have been blacklisted or something even though I have been informed that no such practice even exist.
now my concern is that I am unable to get promoted as the system is overlooking my account or similar circumstance. if I have been sup-par w/my replies or not helpful or even pissed in the wrong pot of coffee maybe patients is a virtue I don't posess just let me know as my curiousity is over-whelming.
oh well I guess I'll let it rest before this turns into a novel
I'm not sure if I explained the sit. properly but this has been burdening me.

dude first of all you need to chill out. PMing MODs will not do anything.

Promotions are based on post count ... post count alone. dRD is the one who updates the system. He is on vacation right now, so chill. In time you will get promoted ... and most likely to member or even Senior if you hit 500 by the time dRD gets around to updating the system.

lol ... no worries. My point is don't worry about the status. That is how shit got all messed up to begin with.

before it took 100 posts to get to member. Then you were hand picked to be a Senior or an Addict. Kind of a recognition for putting your time into Afterdawn. Then people started bitching about people not deserving Senior status .... so dRD made it based on post count.

Anyhow, like I said don't worry about status. Just because you have the newbie label doesn't mean your a newbie in some fields. dRD is on vacation so many may not be promoted in awhile. He gets back sometime in Sept.

Funny where did I come down on you? You PMd me about status.

Those are all outstanding members. And you all keep mentioning respect. And I agree respect is earned. I'm sure those members metioned and more know I'm a fair guy. And I've been here awhile also and have helped out my fair share.

Man your timeline is all messed up. This is what I'm referring to when I say the admin agrees with me.

    jmet,

That thread was after you got reinstated. Yes I did notice you did tone down your sig. But what I posted had to do with linking to another forum. If you would have PM'd me I would have explained more. UncasMS, you came in without knowing where I was coming from.

What do I mean by help our members here? Alot of thing have been discussed here on aD. You brought up example of Arniebear linking to DD forums ... which I looked at. The difference I saw was you would llnk to dd forums when you could have easily answered here. One example of Arniebear ... it was a topic to my knowledge had not been discussed. So it was appropriate to link to dd forums.

I am not against linking to DD forums. But there are times you can offer the help here at aD without linking outside the forum.

Last ... I just got back from Kauai, HI ;)

    jmet,

That believe it or not explains alot. The reason for the first banning was becuause I felt you laughed and ignored my PM and continued to post.

And FYI I banned jmet and UncasMS. I was not the one who banned jmet2 or UncasMS2 .... those nicks IMO hadn't done anything since the first nicks were banned.

jmet2, I believe your banning was for a post you made.

UncasMS2, not sure for that nicks banning.

I have nothing against people coming back and helping. That I can respect.

And I ask ... how long have those who were in disagreement with me been apart of aD? As I've said before there are those who have been apart of this forum for a long time who do respect me as a moderator.
