Just got an Ipod, but I have a PC

What software can I use to transfer stuff to Ipod and Ipod to PC?
Is Itunes the only free option? I heard somewhere that Itunes installs unwanted stuff, like spyware and adware. Will it matter if the Ipod (Ipod nano 4GB) is second hand?

iTunes is a squealy clean program. The only additional object bundled with an itunes installation is quicktime.

you arent going to find many better programs than itunes anyway.

you can make your own library and when you untick the box next on the screen that comes up when you plugg in you ipod tick the box that says "only sync checked items" and then untick the songs or what ever you dont want and your fine itunes is made by the apple computer company and doesnt comtain spyware and freeware. it is completly safe to use!

it wont matter if your ipod is second handed or not it will work in anyway (as long as it is not broken)
