just installed vista and i am not getting any sound

    Vista's triumphant inclusion of 30,000 drivers doesn't support crap. Like all other previous MS OSes...they only support onboard components. Check the vendor's site for updated drivers, or use the XP version.

    The old Windows XP Volume Control is out. The new Vista Mixer control is in. In Vista, clicking the speaker icon in the right side of the tray, and selecting "Mixer" will enable access to volume control for the output devices and for applications.
