    firstoff, you need to flash your bios, here's a link that'll get you done w/ that:
    http://www.teamxecuter.com/cromwell.htm
    After that you can install a dash - personally i wouldn't choose an auto install like slayer's because it doesn't teach you how your xbox is working, which may bring up other issues later if you have problems. i'd explain how to install a dash, but i'll wait and repost after you take care of the flashing

    first you need to know which dash you want - i'd suggest evolutionX, its good for beginners. My true favorite is Avalaunch, but you need to get started first.
    here's a tutorial for installing evolutionX:
    http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/evox-install.php

    That'll take care of you gameswise
    for playing movies and music, you're going to want to grab XBMC

    Hi afex thanks,

    I've installed a dash and HDD loader no probs !!

    BUT

    How do I install and XBMC to stream pic's, movies and music from my pc ?? I've also downloaded Xstream.

    I have looked at the instructions on the XBMC web and it says I need to edit the XboxMediaCenter.xml file so it matches my IP etc, it also says I need to place the path's to the remote folders.

    The only thing is my XboxMediaCenter.xml file is different to the on on the XBMC web, it says Network settings are now in GUI !!

    Whats GUI and how do I set it up to stream from PC..

    Thanks again..

    well, theres a ton of different ways you can stream - most people say 'samba' is the best, thats where you use windows' built-in file sharing...i use ccxstream...you'll have to download ccxstreamgui, and then place this in your xbmc .xml file, under 'my videos' and 'my music' and whatever else you want to stream (you'll see a bunch of other 'bookmark' tags for your different partitions and whatnot) -

    <bookmark>
    <name>whatever you want to display</name>
    <path>xbms://192.168.0.187:1100/</path>
    </bookmark>

    The IP needs to be changed to your computers, and the port needs to be changed to the one in ccxstream.

    i'm writing this at 7:30AM before i head off to my morning classes, so i apologize if i left out anything important. let me know how it goes
