Actually, they will get it from the front and back. As the storm moves in, a few days later they will get hit with more flooding, as they are in the flood plain. All the water only has one way to flow back into the gulf....back thru galveston bay.

HELLO AD good morning/afternoon/evening where ever you may be.

 

*yawn* Slept thru the storm, the had expected us to get up to 50mph wind gusts, but it looks like we didn't even get that. No damage down here, except for some storm surge. Storm surge was expected to be up to 5ft down here.

Damage down here is expected to be around $500,000, due to piers being destroyed (our largest pier down here was repaired 2 years ago, and it sustained servere damage) and some of the low lying communities being flooded.

One very sad news to report, 2 teens were standing on the jetties that extend out into the gulf, a wave came and knocked them over. Two guys jumped in to try and help, made it to the teens by the rocks, and were hit by another big wave. One guy was taken to the hospital with injuries, the other guy was taken by air ambulance with sever head trauma (thrown into the rocks multiple times by the waves), one teen was injured and is recovering at home, and one teen is missing....presumed dead.

 

I have to agree with ddp on this one, why would you put not only yourself but other people at risk for a cheap thrill?

Ok, they were only kids, they had no sense, but you would think their parents should have known better.

They just found the young man's body earlier today, washed ashore.

The 3 guards from my post who left for louisiana for hurricane gustav, came back into town thursday, and left this morning for galveston island.

 

well i guess i would have been better off in texas with you GM....

no power now going one 36hrs. and dont look to get any for a week...
we had the remains of IKE roll through. 70-80mph for about 3 hours straight... tore up everything.800,000 people here without power.. thats just in the cincinnati area.KY ,Indiana areas without power as well... well i gotta get some work done. c-ya all when i c-ya.

 

Come on down!! All is fine here and I could use the help at work. lol.
