so you think it may be dodgy media? first time i've had trouble with the TDK DL, not too sure how many different DL we have on the Aussie market?
You are using a lot of your memory. That could also be an issue. Whatever programs you have running in the background, shut them down. One or more of these programs could possibly be the culprit.
yeh 61%? not sure what that would have been, I deliberately left it running during the day when I left for work
According to your log, an error occurred when it jumped to 2nd layer. I do not know how old is your drive is and what kind of media (I know it’s Ritek ) is, though I’ve read something about old drive can’t deal well with x8 DL media due to its manufacturing process (2P vs IS?). You’ll find more detail by searching aD. Firmware update might help.

thanks I will read links today. burner 2 years old? have had no trouble previously and have always used the TDK DVD+R DL media [2.4x speed] my PC is fairly quick so the memory surprises me core 2 duo 6400 @ 2.13ghz, 4g RAM
good links thanks so I'm thinking, check for any firmware upgrade and drivers. burn with the good old Decrypter close any other programmes down that are running cross fingers
