@ Vini, no, no open media cable boxs work, look at the Kryptview or the SV7 and read this thread for a debate on which is better and why

all cable boxs are gone, apart from KV A780, SV 7, DDIGITAL DUO, SV sat and cable combo, the dreambox C is gone also, so its one of the above if you want cable back

    Hi guys

For those who have purchased the Starview 7, you'll know that you receive a SERIAL-LAN Dongle (serial to LAN adaptor) as part of the accessories.

Great little product, which I've never seen before and I can't find ANYWHERE! Does anybody know where I can find one of these? Or am I resigned to purchasing a homeplug?

Thanks in advance for your help.

How will you get it to work without a LAN connection, what will you connect to Homeplug? best thing to do is to get on to your supplier and request one, it should have been included anyway as you know.

malci, I don't think I explained properly. With the Serial-LAN convertor, homeplug is not needed. My ethernet cable goes straight from my router to the adaptor, which is plugged into the serial port of the box.

I can't find these in the shops or online anywhere. If anyone knows where I can find them, I'd be grateful if you could pass the info on.

aye, no drivers for em, was asking the question if they worked on the non-lan combos and its a driver issue that stops em working

I understand what you say, and that is what I am trying to say. If the box as NO LAN port, as you say the serial-LAN converter is missing, then if you did have Homeplugs - how would you connect to the box if it Has no LAN port. As E45 has said, they are not on general sale they are supplied with the box, hence my suggestion that you get on to your supplier and request one.

Hi everyone, my contract with VM will come to an end on 17th Nov, can i get a SV box or similar and it will work of the line after the contract ends?

i will not have a subscription after this date, but the line will still be live for FTA channels i believe. i also have a communal sky dish.

    thanks

go for the Kryptview A780, loads of posts on em and where to get em, secondly, if you dont have a min service from the provider, expect to be either cut off or your signal will be muck, so my advise, is get the min sub from them and the use the Krtypview, you will need internet for it work, so min TV or Internet sub

Sky dish is no use to you with a cable box
