box will come with remote, but it will need to be flashed with firmware before use,no box by law, comes with only freeview only.

Boxes dont use codes the same way as before, once you put the software on your box your sorted.

Hi guys, Just seeking some clarity on the situation with starview 2 the box and eurovox. I will start with what I thought I knew. Like everybody else in Dublin I lost all the channels worth watching a few months back and the advice at the time was that nt..hell had changed there encryption method from nagra 1 to nagra 2 and were in the process of changing to nagra 3. At the time the kryptview was the only box that could encrypt nagra 2 but some had warned that the life of the kryptview would be short lived when the change to nagra 3 took place. It now appears that the starview 4 usb is doing the same job as the kryptview. I put off buying a replacement box because I thought that there might be a fix for the boxes I have and that nagra 3 was inevitable in the short term. I have read on another post that it is unlikely that there will be a fix for any other boxes other than starview 4 and kryptview but Now I am not so sure that n3 will be here soon. All advice and comment would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys..need help. Got a Kryptview box couple of months ago and all is working fine.My problem is with my 2 old starview boxes. Lost the basic channels yesterday and was looking to upload some new software to see if I could get the basic channels back again. Looking through the threads I see software from Dec 08. Will this give me back my missing channels? My next problem is that I am not too good at downloading and putting it onto the starview box. I have the null modem cable (which I ordered with my Kryptview) in the back of the box and the other end into my desk top PC.
Downloaded a guide by LUCID but dont fully understand GTROM Loader and all that stuff. Is there a video I can download to make it easier to follow the upgrade instructions. On the other hand is it worthwile to go to so much trouble. The wife is bending my ear that she cant swap from TV3 to UTV for her soap crap...! Would it be better to buy another kryptview. Thanks in advance

get another kryptview as you will be wasting your time putting any new software on your starviews,if you had read through the forum you would have seen that.

Thanks to all on the thread. Special thanks to the stalwarts of help and advice. Am in the dying gasps of finally accepting the inevitable. Starview made their money and have opted out. Now decision time. Anyone know of a multimedia desk-top that may include storage and audio features as well as being capable of testing Nag 3 for educational purposes. Just in case Nag develops again i may not have to touch up the paintwork behind the box.

Thanks karljd. Advice taken. Away on hols on Friday and will order a new kryptview when I get back. Many thanks to all concerned. By the way ....any new input into the new ecryption fiasco from NThell. Just got laid off after 12 years with a construction company and buggered if I will pay 120 a month for all this crap. Love all the normal stuff ie.. discovery, Paramount, living etc etc etc. Not that pushed on the movie channels but with the demise of Setanta we will be watching a shit load of sports in the pub. May god bless all and all who sail in her......

    Regards
