Thanks for the feedback guys. I have now managed to install the firmware.

I am in the Watford area and have Virgin Media. As suggested I put the Watford ID and the cable provider as ex C&W. I did a channel search and all the channels came up.

However when I go to watch any of the pay TV channels the screen goes black then it says 'scrambled or no video'. Any suggestions?

I have just checked again and it is connected. However the wired port light for that cable is not lit. I swapped it round for a cable I use with my Xbox and it works fine so it is not the cable.

The cable box doesn't appear to be acknowledging the connected from the router? Is there a setting I have to change on the box? I have checked the firmware I loaded on and its the latest one and it said download successful.

No I didn't scan the box before flashing it with the firmware.

I appear to have all the channels sky sports, sky movies, etc.

I have several BBC1 channels. The normal 101 then ones from channel numbers 2012 to 2026.

yep you did not follow the tutorial for scanning the box that is why

factory default the box now turn the box off at the back for 30 seconds then turn back on then do new scan MAKE SURE YOU ARE SCANNING ON NETWORK AND NOT ALL make sure you also have your correct Net Id for your area you can get this from your providers box.

I have done as suggested above. What did I not follow on the tutorial?

The BBC1's now have the normal 101 channel and also channels 2016 to 2030. The pay channels still do not work.

As mentioned before the wired router port light for the cable being plugged into the cable box is not lighting up. Is this the problem?

My software version is Kryptview A750 pv3.6.00 and H/W version v2.0.0

Dear Tongs007 I know that I must have come over as a complete plonker but I could not get the firmware to download to the box using a Com Port USB converter on my new laptop with windows 7 operating system. I tried lots of drivers and although devise manager reported the Com Port as OK the firmware download would not work I eventually downloaded the FW using an old laptop with a RS232 connector. My next problem was when I tried to connect to the TV the new scart lead was faulty so I had no signal, this was just bad luck and it took me 2 minutes to find the problem. The only issue I have had is getting the firmware to load using a laptop without a RS232 connector. I still cannot find a driver to make my usb port accept the converter, I would like to do this as I would like to be able to use my home laptop to update the box in the future. I thought my trials and tribulations would be quite entertaining but it seems that some of you just like to slag people off. Thank you for all those of you that tried to help as I said before your support was much appreciated. Happy Days X

I'm sure no one (myself or Tongs) meant any offence to you what-so-ever, and yes your trials and tribulations have been entertaining, and of course helpful to other's looking in/at the thread, the outcome is always interesting and useful to other's. As regards future updating of your box A780, you do not need to use your laptop or any other PC only the initial Flashing of box, as you now just update via the NET using Menu, - Installation - 0000 and go down to S/W Update, press OK - For any future Updates of Firmware.
