I'm hoping that someone can help me with my dilemma. I own a Latitude D600 dell computer and the power button recently broke off the green board that it was on. The computer is a bit old but fully functioning disregarding the power button damage. I would like to somehow be able to fix the damage. How will i be able to fix it? what would I need? Is it possible that i can use the other buttons (such as volume)present to replace the power button by soldering?(Frankly turning the computer on is more important than volume control and adjustment). I just want to be able to turn on the computer and go about my business. If anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it and Any advice is greatly appreciated as well. you need a new keyboard too with all those missing buttons on it. check ebay for a dead dell d600 laptop for parts.
I wouldn't recommend this unless it's a mission critical laptop but you can try a paper clip to bridge the connections and recover your data if need be, while you wait on ebay.
Well thanks for your advice. I believe that ordering the part is best. Howeveer it will take a while. Even though i wuld like to bridge the connection, it probably would not help me power on the labtop since the button needs to be pressed for a second or two then released in order for it to start.
