I encoded a couple mp3's with EAC and Lame, following the step by step guide. I was just wondering, are the bitrates supposed to fluctuate in the process, a lot of the LAME mp3's I have downloaded just stay at a flat 192, mine are around all over the place... does it really matter?

    Thanks

The bitrates are supposed to fluctuate. When the music is easy to encode it will use lower bitrate and save you disc space. If the music is complex and hard to encode it will use higher bitrate in order to achieve Hi-Fi sound quality.

This is known as Variable BitRate.

Ok, thank you. I wasn't sure... thought I did something wrong.
