If I have an infected desktop, will a fresh install of Windows clear it out?? Next question, I have a Gateway laptop, and get the a 02FA 'CPU FAN ERROR'. The fan keeps running, but it can't get to windows. It tells me to shut down and restart. Does this mean I need a new fan?? If so are they hard to install??

    1) Yes, a fresh install of Windows will clear out any viruses (unless they're in the bios or MBR - not likely though).
    2) From what I've read, you'll need to send it in to Gateway to be repaired - roughly $300. Not worth it in my opinion. For another couple hundred, you could have a brand new machine.

I've also heard of flashing the bios (at your own risk) to circumvent the warning.
