Graphics upgrades to a laptop done by a home-user are possible. But the process is a lot more tedious, dangerous(smaller parts easyier to break), and time consuming process than a desktop. Unfortunately I have to leave for work now so I cant explain in detail. But when I get back I will post some more info.
