I have a Gateway laptop that had some type of liquid spilt into the keyboard. Now the computer won't hold power for more than a couple of seconds. Can anyone help me with some way to reset things more. On occasion that computer has started up and worked perfectly. No internal damage seems to have occured somehow. But my knowledge of laptops is very limited.

Please help this is my last resort

I doubt that no internal damage has occured if you spilt liquid into the keyboard, especially if it doesn't stay powered up for long. You have probably shorted it out. If it was soda, or something really sweet then you definately have. Taking apart the laptop and cleaning it usually doesn't do much good in these cases, so if its new and still under warranty I highly suggest giving them a call.

does the laptop stay on with external power but has problem with internal battery?? if battery problem, clean the contacts on both the battery & laptop battery connector to remove any residual left by the liquid

If it is not new and cannot be fixed under warranty, and if it is the keyboard that got wet I'd need to know what liquid was the cause before I could give a suggestion as to a possible fix but in the mean time, can you or do you know how to remove the keyboard?

Edited because of lack of coffee this morning!

The liquid that was spilt was water. the reason i know there
was no internal damage was that it turned on and worked fine
after this had occured. but only once. i am gonna try to open
it and clean it out but when it turned on that once it confused
    me.
also not sure if the keyboard is easily removed. it is a
gateway solo 9300 and not under warranty anymore
