This happened me a while back, but only for some channels, not all. Rescanning didn't help untill I deleted the channels that had no sound and then the next scan got them back with the sound ok.

connect your aerial lead to your tv or connect a lead from your tv out on your box and scan your TV (not box). You should pick up a few extra channels such as tv3 and channel 4.

yeah cant pick up tv3 on the "welfare" channels anymore. that was about 4 or 5 months ago. gonna have to get some rabbit ears me thinks...so sad not even to have comedy channel, we were surviving till that went...

one thing i dont understand is that when i asked about how the new boxes work i was told that i would need a broadband connection, thats fine for me with eircom but chorus dont offer broadband in drogheda so how are the chorus boxes going to work? i dont get it..

no when/if the new boxes come out for chorus you will need a broadband connection
but as you say you already have eircom
also while you are paying for eircom there is another company out there called "homevision" tv,broadband, phoneline all for €35! not sure about what channels you get
was going to get them myself about 2 year ago, price may have changed cos they were only new at the time
better than playing around with them "rabbit ears" lol

as e45 said you dont need b.band for all the "old boxes" that are/were working
but when the new boxes come out you will need broadband

that homevision looks good, just wish they had the tv option in drogheda. for the same price as just having sky (with sports) we would get a broadband and phone included....its the way to go it seems...hopefully drogheda will be implemented soon.

ah ok, just that they're different systems or something. cos thats what was confusing me that if chorus didn't have broadband here yet then how would they get their boxes to work...that's grand so, thanks for the answer..
