It's not really that funny about the accupuncture. Not long ago doctors wouldn't recommend chiropractors. Now it's common business. Accupuncture is becoming more acceptable to the Western medical profession. Accupuncture deals with blocking nerve impulses, so it may relieve some of the pain, even if it's not a cure. If your insurance will go for it (the specialist recommended accupuncture), I'd definitely give it a try.

 

My complaint for today:

I can't figure out when the Phenom line (AMD's new processor) is coming out. I remember reading something that it might come out next month but only to OEMs (i.e. Dell, Falcon Northwest etc.) and that it won't be available for consumers until Q1 or Q2 of next year.

Can anyone find information from AMD to confirm this for me?

The reason why I am bummed about what I read is because I think my parents are cool with chipping in to building myself a computer for Christmas. I was really hoping to go with the Phenom line as I am the type of person that believes in "Brand Loyalty" and my current AMD hasn't disappointed.

However, I guess I could go with an Intel system (heck, I already have the components picked out) if Phenom isn't coming out before the end of this year.

I'm in one hell of a tough spot!! Tomorrow, my words are going to get a great guy fired. (He is a really great guy but apparently not the brightest bulb in the circuit!) Tomorrow afternoon, a coworker and I have to go to our HR department and answer questions regarding an incident in which this guy was involved and because of which, a complaint was filed (justifyably so, unfortunately). He was (innocently but stupidly) joking around with a female assistant in my office; she too always liked the guy but he really pissed her off with his joking. He sat on her lap and put his arm around her shoulder and was joking around with no lewd intent; just joking. She got pissed and sharply told him "get off me"! He stayed put, gave her a hug and told her that she needed to get a sense of humor until I said something like "Troy, stop screwing around" and he got up and continued joking with someone there. She filed a complaint with our HR department and tomorrow, me and buddy have to go to HR to answer questions and, presumably, tell them what we saw. Unfortunately, what we're going to have to say is going to get him fired...there is no doubt of it. He was only joking and really meant nothing sexual but it was really inappropriate, especially when she told him to get off. He's constantly joking around but I've never seen him do anything like this. I'm not defending the guy; it was stupid and she had every right to complain despite his intentions (or lack thereof). Now, Fred and I are going have to tell them what we saw and it's a sure bet that Troy is history. Fred and I aren't crazy about it but we have no choice and the woman he pissed off is also a good friend. What a friggin' idiot!

I got a chuckle out of that! I think I was 14 or 15 or so and just had a fight with my mom. I knew she was looking out the window when I stormed out and I lit a cigarette just to piss her off. Damn, I really showd her, didn't I LOL! You're absolutely right about the money; I quit just over a year ago and I'm saving a small fortune but large enough to pay for a hell of a good vacation this year. I smoked about two packs a day on weekdays and three on weekends ... I figured it out once and it amounts to a few thousand dollars!!! Even at just two packs a day, it amounts to about $3,300 or so. That is a good chunk of change!

@billyboy ... quit while you can. It's a crappy habit and I'm told that cigarettes are even more expensive in the UK than they are here.

@Ireland ... that idea about giving each illegal alien a cow was a real stroke of genius LOL!

Guy called looking for a cell phone he lost earlier in the day, leaves me a phone number he can be reached at, yup, the very same cell phone he lost, told me that was the only number he could be reached at. I told him to check back tomorrow. (Didn't start laughing until after I hung up)

@Gerry1, unfortunately these days,certain comments are just like stepping thru a mine field, one misstep and wham, you be gone. The only hope your friend has would be if she reconsiders her stance and decides that a stern warning or reprimand would suffice. Unfortunately I have seen some people go to far as well and not think about what they were saying until it was too late.

 

AnyDVD6170 and NeroRecode can do Blades if you do just the movie and let it pick the title for you-open one title- it will be 93mins long.100% No compression.

DVDFab HD + FixVTS + NeroExpress can also do it with no compression. Movie only also.

Yeah I got a bitch for today, clone and or anydvd would not work with blades of glory, its been a long time since there has been any issues with clone, all kinds of errors come up, was wondering if anybody else has an issue with blades of glory using clone and anydvd or if there's a forum for it, so far I havent seen any issues by anybody else, and yes I know it could be a bad dvd, I checked it, its clean as a wistle and plays on all my players, which kinda lets me believe clone and anydvd might have not cought up with it, and it does have some goofy titles unlike I seen before.

And glad to hear ireland beat it with dvdnextcopy.

 

garmon, yeah even taking out all the extra and just check the movie with clone it still doesnt take.

 

Yeah I gave up on DVDClone. It did something I'd never seen it do. It opened a box and said it was trying to fix the DVD and counted up to 100% slowly. I never let it do anything else. I went to DVDFab HD and had no problem ripping. I guess after that anything would work. I used FixVTS and NeroExpress for movie only. I like the challenging ones. It's really no fun just putting in a blank and a movie and pushing a button all the time. I thought they had given up.

 

@gerry1, I feel sorry for you for having to say what happened which may result in a friend getting fired. Personally I don't think the guy should be fired but, instead, disciplined. Sure he crossed a line when she told him "Get Off Now"! but I am the type of person to give someone a second chance at things.

Sure, maybe this case should be different but I personally would just (greatly) discipline the guy and then keep a very watchful eye (or two) on him. If he pulls the same (or a similar) stunt ever again then he'd get the can.

That Sucks...just go in and tell what happened...don't elaborate...You might point out that the guy did not think he was doing anything wrong...however...what he did...is just not allowed any more...

 

garmoon, yeah I gave up on clone also, but I did give dvdnextcopy a shot, did as ireland said, you need to get rid of those symbals, it lets you copy movie only or all the extra's, it was a cinch, I dont use dvdnextcopy much but in this case it worked like a charm together with anydvd, I thought maybe anydvd needed some work but it looks like its clone that needs it or maybe anydvd needs an update to work with clone on this movie (Blades of Glory)

Anyway, I found a thread that many people are on about this problem, many had problems and some defeated it with programs like fab, fixit4's, voblankers etc., and all said you need to get rid of those symbals, but all those programs are to complicated for me, dvdnextcopy is almost as easy as clone, just click on burn and let ger rip.

And Ireland, you go guy!!!

My bitch, I hate earwax. I just had a crap load of it removed a few hours ago. I thought I had an ear infection but it the doctor said he couldn't see anything but a load of ear wax when it looked into my ear.

So, he removed it and said that some "mild irritation" was in my ear but was probably caused by the wax removal. So, other then the load of wax that was in my ear nothing is wrong.

I can't figure out the damn license plate law for my state. I live in Utah. I really want to get myself a Vanity Plate for my Audi as I have seen a Audi's with them (and some BMWs) and they look very good.

However, some states require you to have both a front and rear plate on your car. I couldn't find anything on the DMVs website but I am still looking. Hopefully I don't need one!

Update: Well I was looking around and found this;
License Plate Law it was on the "Highway Patrol" website so I assume its up-to-date. According to that I need a front license plate. If thats accurate I want to try and lobby to get that changed so only a rear plate is required.

The reason why I don't think its accurate is because I have seen at least a dozen other Audis, BMWs, and other cars including my neighbor's new truck, that don't have a front plate. My neighbor put a paper with the name of his company in the front holder and the BMWs and Audis I have seen all have vintage plates instead of front plates.

I don't think that many people would run the risk of getting a ticket for not having a front plate, but maybe not.

Apply for vanity plates. If they send two, put only the rear one on. Then if you get stopped, you can say that the front one was stolen. If they only send one, then you're off the hook.
