    Ireland didn't do as much as more regular members? Are we frequenting the same site? Ireland has certainly helped me out more than anyone else here! I rather doubt that I'm the only person here to benefit from his knowledge and experience.

    that's been my only beef with ireland (only saying this here as he's probably here lurking, i wouldn't say it behind his back to to speak (even though i admit i've never mentioned it to him before). My comments in the other thread were not getting at ireland either, this is just one of those situations when people take things to stupid levels when it's "just the internet".

    Let's not get into the whole age thing though fella's, i'm not young and not ageist either, and there's a few 'oldies' here who should know better than to post in the manner they do ie much worse than teenagers; i'm not naming anyone, hopefully they know who they are; i'm not being disrespectful to my elders, just saying it how i've seen (ie lurked it) for a very long time indeed.

    hopefully this can all calm down now, it's all just a forum, people, nothing to get all heated up about.

    Why not do this...instead of bitching about what is happening in the bitch thread, gerry1 or aabbccdd (or anyone who wants to do it) start a thread praising irelands efforts and contributions to afterdawn and those who want to say a kind word can if they wish, but this bickering about something that isn't likely to change does no one any good at all.

    Loco ... so we just sweep it under the rug and pretend? Ireland was one of my favorite people here and someone who helped me more than anyone else. I guess I'm just pissed off at the way he was treated; the way he was just kicked the the curb.

    @Creaky ... All adolescent males behave impulsively and often speak without considering the consequences; it is simply the nature of the beast and it is upon this premise that good schools and the military concentrate their training and efforts. I don't know a single parent who won't agree that their teen-aged son made them pull their hair out from time to time nor do I know a single parent who didn't take pride in their son when their efforts were successful. While adolescents must be allowed to spread their wings and live to some degree of trial and error, most will still keep a watchful eye even if only at a distance and jump in when necessary. This is no different here in a site; you, perhaps moreso than most of us, have run into it over and over again and I certainly have in my job. While our younger members might take offense at what I've said, they too will learn the truth of it when their time comes or when they look at their own teen-aged years in hindsight.

    I meant it's gay that they did that to them. But still since he didn't have mod capabilities anyway what changed?

    Gerry, I think you're alright and no offense, but who are you to say all this?

    Get off your high horse already.

    Edit: Woops, there goes my adolescent male mouth speaking impulsively without considering the consequences again!!

    @Creaky ...LOL! I needed that!

    @Phlax:
    A friend of Ireland perhaps? A guy who sticks up for his friends perhaps? An old fashioned concept; I know.

    Aw, that's sweet. I think you're overlooking the fact that this is not real life, though. So you get on well with ireland, to what extent I don't know, but there's not need to go on a cross-forum rampage about how he's been around a while and suddenly lost an otherwise pointless title!

    I'm sure there are many members who agree with me, so shoot.

    So the feelings and betrayal of the person on the other end aren't real life then? Just imaginary? ...this lack of face to face contact gives us the right to do and say as we please? If you have no feelings or compassion for the imaginary person to whom or about which your words are aimed, it is you, Phlax, who have some self-examination to do.

    Ugh, I've been passively monitoring this forum for a while, and always enjoyed Ireland's contributions. I'll miss those.
    As for tocool4u, is there not a better way of keeping turds like that out of the forums?
    I know better than to just pipe up to tell people off, that's not my job, nor is it anyone's besides the forum moderators and admins, if they so choose to do so. What's happened has happened, and like all the "I've had enough, I'm off" incidents there have been before, it eventually blows over, but goodness do people make a fuss.

    Threads like this are exactly why I mostly stay out of the safety valve

    Nice analogy Gerry. How you feel about someone you know merely through the internet is not for me to judge, I just think you're taking things a bit too seriously. At the end of the day you're only arguing for his title's sake.. I'm sure if ireland had kept his title on closure of the forums there would be NO fuss right about now, merely a few "sad faces" at their demise. And why do you think the lack of "face-to-face" contact is having any influence on what I say? Lastly Gerry, I'm under no illusion that ireland is some kind of imaginary entity, I just don't care about his precious status.

    Edit: Grammar

    he's one of life's thorns in the side, and like a bad penny insists on coming back over and over ad finitum; at least in IRC in ad_buddies we were able to get the satisfaction of letting him back in, waiting for him to spout a load of old dishcloth, then take turns in booting him out; thought it had finally taught him a lesson, but it seems here on the forums he gets to find ways of sneaking back in; ah well, he's perverse, he enjoys it anyway, but we'll hopefully get rid of him in the end..

    edit-
    absolutely; exactly why i only pop in then unsubscribe shortly afterwards, i just drop in then get out sharpish.. in fact will do so very shortly..
