@billyboy ... the ears, nose and throat and all part of the same system. Someone with a sinus problem can easily have a problems or someone who has a sinus infection can easily get a sore throat caused by the same bugs; ever notice that when you have a bad cold and your nose is all stuffed up that all sort of nasty junk find its way to the back of your throat. They're all connected which why specialists in the field are called "Ear nose and throat" specialists.

When some of the bactieria decide to pick up and travel elsewhere in your body. The ears are in close proximity. Tonsilitus can be a pretty nasty little bugger. Good reason to have the tonsils removed to keep it from recurring.

My Bitch: I went for my monthly visit to the Rothman Institute and they're going to change my pain medication from oxycontin and percocet to something called fentinil patches and fentinil tablets. I could have kept with the oxycontin and percocet but they said this fentinil stuff would probably work better so I reluctantly agreed. I know I joke about my pain medication but its actually very important. There is one pretty wierd thing though; I've got to go to some sort of "class" on Monday before I start taking it. This is rather strange; slapping on a patch and swallowing a pill isn't exactly brain surgery LOL!

@Pac ... you're absolutely right on that one. I don't know why people don't just have the tonils removed. I've known some people who go through episode after episode of what Billyboy is going through rather than simply having them removed. There are risks to any surgery but a tonsilectomy isn't exactly a rare and complicated procedure.

I suspect they want to teach you how to deal with withdrawal. Oxycontin has become high profile in the news. Because a lot of people abuse it, the abolitionists are causing trouble for medical professionals. There's two problems involved, patient care and drug abuse. I think patient care should be left to trained professionals and drug enforcement to law enforcement. Law enforcement should only need to know who is getting Oxycontin legally if a patient is suspected of diverting the drug. There's a lot of Oxycontin shipped into this country for illegal sale from outside our borders. It was never a part of legal medical practice. That's part of the story you rarely hear. Same for opiates. Heroine is illegal, but since opiate based painkillers are more mainstream for acute pain, those are given more of a bye than Oxycontin which is used for chronic pain. Goes back to the old addage, "walk a mile in my shoes ..." If the general public could realize half the pain (for a day) that many people will suffer long term and sometmes for the rest of their lives, they might rethink the situation. Then there's those abolitionists, they'd chew off their own leg to make a point.

In what way have you been "arsey" meboy? You haven't been mean and nasty to anyone (you little whippersnapper you LOL!) By the way, what is an "outlier"? Also, why doesn't your doctor prescribe some kind of "numbing" gargle? (maybe you can call ask ask for some?) I used it once a long time ago and it worked great. It's a strange sensation because your throat feels nothing at all. I think it has some sort of lidocaine; something like this, I think.

I don't know the brand names; perhaps Garmoon does though.

    LMAO!!

    Haha, poor greensman.

Gerry, the doc asked me if i had taken anything for the tonselitus already, and i said just paracetamol to try and kill the pain. So, being the stingy NHS, she prescrbied me some anti-biotics (peneceillin B) and told me to keep taking paracetamol. Which, when you are taking enough of them to kill a small horse (liek i am), isnt cheap.

I was too glad to have been prescribed some kind of chemicals to have thought straight about asking for anything else. Not bad for my first doctors appointment on my own without one of my parents :D (first one since im 16, and thats the age for your own healthcare etc here).

And by an outlier, i mean just...an anomolie. A fluke, an exeption, a wierdo to the cause (which at this point was gargling lemon juice i guess LOL). Was just a bad way of wording it.

And i just meant i was moaning a hell of alot, my last 5 posts have been moaning. But it IS the bitch thread i guess.

So, to carry of the pattern, i maay aswell let you in on this bit :p

Like i said, i thought i had overcome it tonight, so my friend asked me to go sort his computer out. I agreed, saying i couldnt speak much though, and if he was ever gonna come out the closet and try and kiss me, now wasnt the day haha. I went down, sorted his computer out, then we met my other friend, and just generally went for a bit of a walk, got me some fresh air, went to a shop and bought some food etc. This was a big step for me as id been indoors for like...48 hours (which to me, being a whippersnapper, is quite alot :p). Half way through this little endeabour, i stopped at my house to take one of my antibiotics and 2 paracetamol tablets, just because my throat was starting to twinge.

When i got home, i did so all triumphant thinking i was healing, getting better, and it was pretty much over. I mightve mentioned i was taking lots of paracetamol every 4 hours (the maximum without it f;ing your kidneys up LOL), to help the pain. So i got into bed, watching tele, and i looked at the time and thought; "ooh, itd be time id be having more paracetamol now if i was still feeling bad". Turns out it was going in brilliant patterns. Because i was taking them every 4 hours, the pain was GOING for 4 hours at a time, almost exact LOL. So the more i lay in bed...the more my tonsils began to hurt again. I thought nothing of it and thought i was imagining it. So i eventually drifted to sleep. About an hour ago i woke up with my tonsils on fire, had to go downstairs (come on...im a lazy delinquent), get the paracetamol, come all the way upstairs, take 2, go back down to get the water i had forgot, take the pills, and go to sleep. But...i couldnt get back to sleep, so now im here on aD, its 4:52 am, and im still typing for reasons even i dont know, and im sure if any of you are still reading this...you havent got a clue about anything ive said.

Ah well, probably the longest post ive ever written (wrote?).

Okay, i think im like 6 hours agead of you people, so, that would make it about 11pm for you guys? if im right, and youve read this, please, please reply, because theres so little to do lying in bed on your laptop at 5am in the morning.

    :D

4:52am, ouch. I've posted at those sorts of times before (and being from England like you, it would be those sorts of times!)
Before you moan about the NHS, think about all the americans that'll see that post, they haven't even got one.
