    @pop smith

    I had alot of good friends in high school, but I had alot of better friends in College. I still talk to most of them to this day. You have the rest of your life to establish quality freindships, don't rush anything.

    EDIT: I forgot to add that once you graduate college and get a job the only friends you have are the bastards that you work with.

    Just the bastards I work with...wouldn't really call them freinds, more like acquaintences.

    @billy-boy..."Resplendent"...I like that; it's a neat word. I'm glad you're having such a great time while I sweat my a$$ off moving boxes about in 90 degree heat! Why don't you fly to this side of the pond ... I've got some really rewarding charity work you can do while on holiday LOL!

    Have you tried Ubuntu Linux yet? It's really coming along and in my view has the best chance of all the Linux flavors to wreak havoc on Microsoft.

    @Sophocles - no, haven't tried Ubuntu. I only really play with Linux to keep my hand in. My firm were all for Linux (for cost reasons, like most people!), and to start investigating Oracle RAC ie Grid Computing (again for cost reasons). However our company was bought out by a rather huge company and it turns out they have zero interest in Linux so our firm's Linux strategy went out the window. But as i do Solaris Admin for a living i try to mess with Linux a bit to keep my fingers busy, but my poor old memory has aged far too much more than my years and i sometimes find it a tad troublesome to keep a handle on details of things i don't use enough :)

    bitch bitch bitch

    Give it try when you get a chance, it can be downloade or you can send them and email and they will send you a free CD copy of it. It is fastly becoming a Linux favorite.

    Sophocles, was just replying to that 'other' thread but it had been closed; suffice it to say i don't look for wrongs on other sites to report back here, i was just stating an observation, that's all. (honest!). I'm just nosy and like to keep informed, certainly not for anything untoward. have edited my last reply on that thread to clear it up..

    Ubuntu will probably end up on my to-do list but how long it stays in the queue is a mystery that i certainly don't have an answer to :)

    I decided that it was time for it to go, or at least for now. I only moved it into a hidden forum until things blow over. I don't want new members thinking that was our one purpose for being. I would rather make good use of our many gifted members.

    I've played with Ubuntu quite a bit it is as easy to install as any windows flavor. One of its best features is its built in hardware driver support.

    @boxwrench..."packing" boxes would have been more appropriate; I hired movers but it's tough on the old bones none the less LOL! A friend suggested I hire someone to pack the boxes ... a rather wealthy friend who can afford such decadence but I can see it now ... me sitting back in my recliner, having a smoke and a stoley on the rocks while I watch my menials pack my things!! As it happens, I'M the menial LOL! The weather would be perfect if I wasn't engaged in my least favorite activity...WORK! LOL!

    @billy-boy..."obtuse" is a good words...describes me perfectly LOL!

    I just had an airsoft gun confiscated from me and it is now at the policestation!!!

    I genuinely thought it was legal! Apparently not! Al my friend and i used to do is line milk or beer bottles up along the piles of slaps in my garden, and shoot them! Just harmless fun!##Never the less i suppose..#if it was aillegalll.
    But it cost me £40!!lol.
