    An airsoft gun? Illegal? I take it this is what we Yanks call a BB gun or pellet gun? That bites dude. The US version of gun control here in NC means using both hands at all times on your weapon.

    well, its an airgun, fires metal bb's and pellets, but i still thought it was legal!!!

    We normally call the spring loaded ones bb guns, but the compressed air ones are, well, air guns lol.

    I know it sucks.

    They aren't illegal to own, but probably municipalities, counties and states have their own rules. Airguns are used for paintball, of course why someone wants to suffer getting shot at by paintballs and having bruises all over eludes me, lol. My nephew used to do this for a couple of years.

    @arniebear

    I was addressing pellet (Benjamin pumps and BB guns) guns, I don't know about paint airguns. Yeah who wants to be shot in the face with a paint gun. I'd just as soon run around with a pencil in my mouth.

    I am in the process of obtaining a firearms & shotgun certificate (UK). To say it is a nightmare is an understatement!

    Probably is, your laws are much stricter than ours.

    Well Loco I don't think anyone would ever be tried for lasering a police officer because they would be shot on sight. They are especially trigger happy since the crime migration from New Orleans. Same for stealing crawfish and alligtors. Cajun fishermen have their own laws. The bodies would never be found.

    Yeah and yesterday legislature failed to ban cock fighting here, still just New Mexico and Louisana legal. We really are like a whole other country!

    @garmoon...cockfighting eh? I know that they still bust cockfighting and dog fights in the central and western parts of PA...out in redneck, bible thumping the government is out to get you malitia land. A lot of that around those parts I'm told...and large groups too with a lot of money changing hands I hear. We're far more civilized in eastern PA and Philly ... we have gunfights and drive by shootings but god forbid one should harm a dog! Cynical but true I'm afraid. Didn't they recently take alligators of the endagered species list and establish a hunting season or have I been misinformed?

    Actually, I have a bitch today. I just finished moving and for whatever reason, it will take those verizon yahoos another two weeks to connect my DSL. I'm using Netzero Dial-up and it sure bites the proverbial big one LOL!! Ten whole free hours a month LOL! I don't know why I don't have that annoying ad banner at the bottom as they usually do with the freebees but I'm not complaining. Anyway, this really bites it. Well...must go; I want to check my verizon email which will probably use up half of those free ten hours for that one task LOL! Hope everyone is well! ... Gerry

    @billy-boy ... taking your airgun is strange (I loved mine when I was a kid) but stranger still is the notion of a milk bottle ... do you mean the glass ones? LOL! I haven't seen one of those since long before you were a twinkle in your daddy's eye LMAO!

    Same here. I live in an "open carry" locale and it's also easy for the law abiding citizen to get a concealed permit here.

    @gerry1

    Yes cockfighting must be popular "sport" everywhere, hell we still have illegal dogfighting too. If they could train alligators, they'd be fighting them. Hope you get back to broadband soon, dial up is the pits.

    Well, there are airguns and then there are airguns...the BB/pellet guns we played with as kids but there is also the compressed air canister variety which, I'm told, are really gaining in popularity among the criminal types. I won't claim to know much about it but the cops occupy three floors of my office building and they tell me that they're very deadly and almost totally silent. I'll see if I can find out more about them and maybe post some pics & info; I know a lot of the cops as we take our smokes out in the back and believe me, some of these guys are really into their weapons.

    Someone used the words "weapon" and "North Carolina" in the same sentence which brought back a comical memory. Anyone who was in the military (the marine corps anyway) knows that using the term "gun" was strictly forbidden and had consequences. I remember my marines spending an entire afternoon in the hot North Carolina summer sun: they were forced to alternately grab their 45 and then grab and shake their crotch and scream at the top of their lungs "THIS IS MY WEAPON AND THIS IS MY GUN; THIS ONE'S FOR KILLING AND THIS ONE'S FOR FUN". I'm glad I was a corpsman and not subject to these humiliations; I probably would have had fun with it for a few minuts but I'm sure it got old quickly LOL!

    The law regarding air guns does not protect you from getting shot by police or armed neighbors fearing for their lives, because you were brandishing a replica of a real firearm... That law was not written with airsoft in mind, and even if they did modify it to specify airsoft replicas... it still would not mean that its safe to use them in your yard. A police officer isnt going to calmly walk up to you and ask "Is that an airsoft gun? I just wanted to make sure before I went and drew my weapon on you" when it looks just like a real gun. He is going to draw his weapon and order you to drop yours.... then if you don't comply, he may get a little "jumpy" and you'll end up bleeding out all over your airsoft gear.

    What I'm trying to say is, it may be LEGAL, to shoot your airsoft gun in your yard. That does not mean it is SMART or SAFE to do so.

    @Gerry,
    down here in the South, anytime you hear "Hey Y'all, check this $h*t out" and it involves firearms and alcohol, RUN for cover. This usually means that Jethro is going to try and shoot a beer can off the forehead of Billy-Bob with a shotty-gun.
    But, back to the criminals and weapons, it really doesn't matter what we outlaw, if a criminal wants a weapon to use in a crime against you, he is going to find something to hurt, maime, or kill you. I'm sure carrying a concealed crossbow was common crime back in the dark ages. Just my 2ยข worth.
