    I'm having an intermittant problem my 4120B, in that when I insert the blank media into the drive the light will flash for a few seconds and then the mouse pointer will freeze on the screen. I have to reset the system every time which is getting really frustrating. The 4120B is the slave drive with my Samsung DVD-Rom as the master. Both drives are running in Ultra DMA mode 2.
    I hope someone can help me solve this problem

    System specs as below;

    Gigabyte GA-8IPE100 Pro 2
    P4 3Ghz 800MHZ fSB
    1 GB PC-3200 DDR 400 mhz Kingston Ram
    Antec True Power 430w PSU
    WD 120GB (master)
    WD 40GB (slave)
    Ge-Cube X800 Pro 256mb
    Samsung DVD-ROM (master)
    LG 4120B DVD Re-Writer(slave)
    Windows XP Pro SP1

    Having just been promoted to a junior member, I'll take a guess, although I know my knowledge in this area pales in comparison to folks who have been around here since the dawn of time.

    I recently had similar problems of my system seizing up. I found it to be a media problem, so you might try a different brand than what you are using.

    You might want to reinstall whatever burning software you are using.

    Maybe check this link out too. Not sure if it is related, but it can't hurt.
