LG VX 8100

    was curious to know if you can set mp3 ringtones on your phone with a data cable? and wallpapers and such...

    Judging by users manual and after talking to LG tech support, VX8100 supports only qcp and mid file types for sounds. It looks like although you can convert mp3 to mid, for most rock/pop songs the resulting file sounds nothing like the song. There's got to be a way around this I just haven't figured it out yet.

    This post on www.phonescoop.com may help. I haven't tested this yet, but you may just be able to simply change the extension from mp3 to qcp. I'm waiting for my miniSD card to arrive so I can try this. Let me know how it goes.
