I have a Dell Dimension, 80gig, XP home unit. Lite-on DVD drive and use DVDX Copy software. I have followed the install instruction completely. the unit reads/rips without problem, then asks me to insert a blank DVD+R, which I do, then NOTHING. the blinking lite on the drive goes out and no action is taken......any help, suggestions, recommendation etc etc??
    Thanks!

sorry mate , I would NEVER use DVDxCopy !

    My method:

    DVD Decrypter
    DVD2One
    Nero 6 Ultra

(I dont trust 321 Studios software)

perhaps the software isnt the problem? i am confident it is all hooked up correctly as per the instructions, why would the drive power down after the disc is inserted? finicky media brand?

Possibly , I wouldnt have thought so tho cos I'd imagine you would have a burn under way then it'd stop & give an error msg

I trust Ritek G04 Grade A media the most & I have tried quite a few different media.

[bold]Got it from NewEgg $97 delivered FedEx. I've used Lite-On cd-rw drives and have had excellent results consistently. This one is great! It is a bit slow to start up, but that's not a problem. And, this is one quiet drive. Bundled software in retail box isn't good. I've used DVDXCopy Xpress, but I prefer DVD Shrink and ImgToolBurn (also have Nero5.5). My standalone players read the discs without a hitch. Highly recommended...great price.

[bold]Awesome DVD burner, only had one disk fail. Bought it for $82.00 on NEW EGG. Retail box too. Have been using DVD Decryptor and DVD Shrink. ^^

Some comments on the Liteon LDW-401S which is what I think you've got , check here http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdwriters.php?DVDnameid=125&Search=Search&list=0#comments

The preffered methods on aD here are DVD Shrink + Nero ... or ... DVD Decrypter + DVD2One + Nero

    [ hope this helps ]
