Plus you wouldn't be able to get one to 5Ghz, not without some ridiculous vapour compression cooling anyway, and even then it'd probably only last a few months before the excessive voltage caused electronmigration and destroyed the CPU. All this said, even at 5Ghz, a 2.66Ghz Core 2 Duo would be faster, that's stock, before you've overclocked it. You can get 4Ghz out of those things too, on normal air cooling (albeit with a large heatsink).
sounds interesting not to sure what to do now sine this mobo dont take c2d or c2q this what it can have LGA 775 Motherboards Model Name AW8D NB Chipset i975X Supports FSB 1066 / 800 / 533MHz Last Update: November, 2007 CPU List FSB MB Rev. damm it i love this board and i new u would say that defo lol well well im sticking with abit might see what the aw9d max is like
Yea, but how long are you willing to wait for true quads to be released. If you are going to make a purchase today then the Q6600 is the logical way to go ESPECIALLY if you plan to keep your computer for more than two or three years. Programs that do support four threads have shown as much as a 30% performance gain over dual cores. Sure you will not get those five extra framerates in Supreme Commander when you do use a Q6600 as opposed to a E6850 today, but lets look one, two, or three years ahead. By then it will be a whole new ballgame and if you did purchase a quad core today then you will be in a much better situation three years from now than if you decided not to make that investment.
Oh god i must be desperate i even tryed someting that someone said on some site that would get my g-card working it was getting rid of vista going back to xp and just installing the 7.6 drivers for my card.(still did not work) do u think flashing the bios with a diffent setwould work
I've not heard much about the new ABIT boards, but the Gigabyte p35 boards are very nice. Also to increase performance switch to XP, and overclock you card.
nope nothing at all i have gears of war, call of duty 4,bioshock and need for speed pro street just siting here waiting to be played
The X1950 is a good card, I had a card that was a little LESS powerful than that and it played Bioshock fine. It seems to me it's the cooling on your card and your CPU that's holding you back.
Then there is no reason Bioshock wouldn't play fine. Given you still have a weak CPU but it's not THAT bad. You're fine as far as playing recent games at decent settings goes. EDIT: Have you tried RMAing the card?
Is it a connect3D X1950 pro? For whatever reason most of those were faulty from the factory. Try and exchange it for a different brand if you can. All the other X1950 Pros were fine..
ive look in to returning the card ati dont take it back becaouse it conect 3d and return to conect 3d it a job in its self cant find out waht to do on there site
