I'm a musician and not an expert on CD-technology. I read about different brands, cyanine and phthalocyanine, short and long strategy, and so on. But since I found that many of my CD's are unreadable after only 4 years I simply would like to learn which CD-R's guarantee the music on my CD's will keep intact for at least 25 years, if such CD-R's exist at all. Could anybody please tell me that, and also if there is any way to see whether a CD-R is fit to this long term storage or not? Many thanks in advance.
We can't tell if a CDR can last 25 years, since the first CDR was manufactured less than 25 years ago, but I doubt it. Even pressed CDs don't last 25 years. In the thread for dead CDRs (http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/3247) there are no Tayo Yuden, nor Verbatim azo yet.
