Try deleting the cheat file included in the M3 SYSTEM folder (called "cheat.db"), then add your own cheat file, load the M3 and choose "Select File..." and choose your new cheat file. I know the M3 Simply has a problem with cheat codes clashing when you have more than one cheat file on the card, it could be the same with the M3 Real. Should that not work, download this cheat list, I have just taken it off my M3 Real and I know it works. This has most codes available and if it does not have what you want it should at least prove that the M3 is loading the cheat files correctly. EDIT:Accidentally uploaded the uncompressed 6MB file, I have changed it to the <1MB ZIP file, be sure to unzip it before putting it on your M3.
I am new to this whole thing, just trying to do research about which card I wanna buy Just wondering what is the main difference between the M3 simply and the M3 Real. The simply seems to be sold out everywhere so I am hoping that the real is just as good if not better lol.
Hi there, Can you advise if it is possible to downlaod and view programme fromnBBCi on DS. I have tried media coversion using Moonshell DPGENC but says cannot see file size. It will however, convert and play the BBC programme trailer! Any clues please?
The BBC iPlayer video downloads use DRM protection, unless you remove the DRM you cannot convert them for use on the DS. I won't go into detail on how to remove DRM but if you google i'm sure you'll find out. The BBC trailer will work as it probably has no DRM protection.
Thanks very much for quick reply, and yes have found info from google re the removal of DRM, which brand DRM removal software download would you recommend? Regards.M
Only one i've ever used is Fairuse4wm (or named something similar), haven't used it for a few months though so dunno if there's anything better available.
Sorry to go off topic but I thought my findings might help a few people. I have an 8gb micro for my ds real and had the same trouble as a few others fitting more than 128 games on the cartridge. I tried making 2 folders called nds1 and nds2, which let me load the games from the 'sdcard' folder, but didnt give the option to use cheats or slo mo etc. The way around this is to split the games into 2 different folders, nds1 and nds2, both should be in the root. then to load a game, click the first icon like you normally would, when it complains about directory not found, press start. This will then give you a list of directories, choose one, choose your game, choose cheats and away you go! Hope this helps, sorry if it's been answered already, i couldn't find it. Chris
Sorry if this has been covered, but this thread is huge and unfortunately even though it's one of the most comprehensive guides on the real I've read I can't find too much info on my simple problem: Where do I put my PDA files? (main and shell?)
PDA files go in the root so my root is 'E:/' and I would put my PDA folder there (so it would be 'E:/PDA') on my root just to clarify there is a folder for games, there is the SYSTEM folder and a PDA folder. I am also sure that the additional files also go into the root? I am not sure because I only used PDA for a day and it is obvious to anyone who used it that its terrible but I suggest you try it and if you don't like it no loss. When I used it the touch screen was useless as it was inaccurate, the actual thing is slow but I suppose an update may have fixed all of this.
That didn't work, I made a PDA folder, put the main folder and the shell folder inside it. I start up my DS and I get this: "Copy PDA to a moveable disk" ?
the main folder does not go into the PDA folder. When you download it it is a folder called PDA_DS or something similar so just rename that folder to PDA and put it on the disk.
Firstly many thanks for the guide and all the help posted in this thread. Since receiving my m3 DS Perfect bundle everything has worked flawlessly. I do have a few queries. I'm using 3.7c Firmware Are there easier ways to get back to the softwares main menu from applications like GBAlpha, DSOrganize and even from Games, both NDs and GBA in particular. I can't seem to find a way to simply go back to the initial M3 DS menu (GM Manager) without having to hard reset the DS everytime. Is there a key combination to go back or something else I'm missing? EDIT: Ok I've worked out GBAlpha has a reset option. The NDS Roms can be run with the reset to M3 Menu, still unsure with DSOrganize, dunno if moonshell has the option as I'm having trouble running it. GBA ROMS don't seem to have that option when you run them. Can anyone confirm that the GBA Slot Exapansion and Rumble Pack Cards can not be hot swapped? I tried switching them whilst in the GM Manager but neither seem to work unless it's from a cold boot. The rumble pack will go berserk (makes continous noise) whereas the GBA Exapnsion card will not be recognized when trying to run a GBA or NES game. Just wanted confirmation on this as again it means hard reset to switch between rumble NDS games and GBA roms. Is there anyway on GBAlpha or any other media player to play mp3's and then leave that media section and say go play a GBA game or do something else (read a pda) etc.. AND keep the mp3's playing, basically combining your music with another application? Finally, has the GBA save game issue been resolved with the latest firmware. I've read throguh this entire thread and didn't see if that was the case but having tested only GTA on the GBA the saving of the game seems to be working. EDIT: Few more queries having tinkered. I downloaded the Nintendo DS Browser ROM. It runs but asks for memory card to be inserted, so I rebooted inserted GBA Expansion card and then tried with Rumble Card neither worked, it kept asking for an memory expansion card. So I downloaded the english browser patch, patched the ROM and now the ROM won't even run, it freezes and I have to hard reset out. Anything else I can try? I tried the DS Organize Browser, it connects (all my wifi settings are in order) however every web page I try to open leaves me with a screen full of symbols, basically, doesn't work, just get garbage on the screen. Anyway to remedy this? I downloaded some skins to try from GBATemp, from the M3 section, however I can't get any to work, I placed in the appropriate skin folders first skin3 skin4 etc.. Selecting them changed nothing. I noticed most of the skins I downloaded had very few images in them, much less than the default skins in skin1 and skin2. Do I need to rename them what about the seemingly missing pieces? Is there another way to load these skins from GBAtemp, the documentation for them doesn't reveal anything. One of the skins was a .dat file to be placed in the root. How do I run it? Any help appreciated
Wow that's a biggie... Firstly the only soft reset options are for NDS and GBAlpha which you have found... DSOrganise doesn't have one as the programmer just didn't add one. No the expansions cannot be swapped I am unsure why but they must be there from boot. No application can play games and music at the same time because there has been no flash card with that ability especially as how hard it would be to have two apps running and one of them being a game. The closest you can get is playing music and reading a ebook in GBAlpha. The save game issue is as far as I know fixed and on the M3Real site there is a step by step guide to do it and it basically says press ST+SL+L+R and save that way. The DS Browser should run with the expansion inserted so try again I suppose but when I tried it worked however my patch seemed not to work as it just asked for the expansioon anyway. Try patchin both EU and USA games. My wifi isn't as kind as yours so I cannot vouch for the DSOrganise browser but from what I hear then its either an incompatable site or your DSOrganise settings need a tweak. Moonshell is hard to run because it's touch screen is way off calibration. Now for something I am sure of and its the skins now the ones with few files are for M3 or M3simply I am not sure which as the real is my first flashcard but be sure that there is an M3, an M3simple and an M3Real all of which use different skins now the M3 I think used the .dat which it ran to change the skin and the M3Simply used the less files version(there are only games media and slot-2 options don't forget). I just looked and GBATemp do NOT do M3Real only Skins for the R4 or M3 DS Simply adapters. Now I am going to put an end to your search and advertise my own skin XD heres a site that has done a large amount of skins and the forums are limitlessly helpful especially the mod blackeneddove. http://www.ndsthemes.com/themes/details/m3real/1313cb8e2e and this site also has a nice community.
Many thanks. Your post specifically have been extremely helpful. I re-read the entire thread again and found ndsthemes. I've now fixed the issue, they work perfectly, thanks. I got the Nintendo Browser to work. I re-installed everything after corrupting a few files (my own fault). I did a clean install of the NDS Rom and again with a patched version. The patched version worked fine this time round. I'll check out that step-by-step guide on M3 Real, will most likely be helpful should anything go wrong with saves. The only thing I need working now is moonshell, I've followed a few guides via google but still no luck, it just won't seem to load at all, any recommendations for guides? Just to note I successfully converted an avi to dpg and it ran fine in GBAlpha, is that the built in media player (extendor) you refered to earlier in the thread? I actually did it using BatchDPGMT v2.7 after the other program kept failing with audio conversion despite having updated all codecs. Thanks again! One new thing, is there anyway to setup a network share with the DS so you can access it through the wireless network. I tried FTP but couldn't figure it out. I've given my DS a specific I.P allocated by the router but there's no obvious way to set a username or pass.
For the DS wifi settings I cannot help you because I don't have a router only the nintendo wifi dongle which I strongly reccommend that you DON'T get because it is much worse than a router and not worth the money. GBAlpha is the built-in player I spoke of but is also known as Crystal engine and I don't particularly know why... it just is. To install moonshell try and download it from infantileparalyser's own site... its in japanese but isn't hard to navigate for the most part. I am glad that you mentioned the conversion method as the only way I found to work was an old version of moonshells converter. try and google infantileparalyser and if theres no luck I'll dig up a link.
I know that the m3 sakura firmware has just been released in japanese, but I'm wondering if anyone knows anything more about the possibility of an english version or at least an english patch. Every page I find about it hasn't been updated since april, or is a patch of the beta, or a link to the japanese release. Any information anyone can provide about this would be great. I've been eagerly awaiting this since I first saw "new system" "M3 Sakura" thanks.
Well I don't think that is relevant to this thread as I'm sure it's your DS not the M3Real... Your going to have to open the DS and find if some wires have been crossed. I have not had this problem and doubt many have.
Another guy has the same problem, and he has got M3Real too. But if i play with original game,i haven't this problem.
