i have been trying to put a few homebrews on the m3 ds real but i can never find them when i put it in my ds.... maybe i am putting them in the wrong place on the sd card? can someone please tell me exactly where to put the homebrews on the sd card, and then where to find them on the m3 real once i put it in the ds and turn it one. thanks so much in advance!
If using touchpod, Put it in the nds folder If using Sakura put it wherever Some homebrew requires additional folders, Such as Colors! needs to have the COLORS folder in the same directory, DSOrganise needs the folder DSOrganise on the root, Same as moonshell Check the documentation on the homebrew but if all fails just run the nds file and it should create any additional folders where they are needed
I am having issues with mu M3DS Real and hoping somebody can help I loaded the firmware and when launchig the DS i get a MENU? error Any ideas? Is the unit just defected? thanks
Check the card and box - if it says anything other than www.adapter.com then it is a fake. The latest software is 4.3c - see the site in my signature for all the firmwares
Any help will be appreciated, the issue I am having with a M3DS Real card is that sometimes it works fine, sometimes it doesnt load. When it doesnt load what it does is stays at the black screen with the M3DS logo in the bottom right hand corner. I slightly believe i have a defective Real card or defective SD card. Again, any help is greatly appreciated
You probably won't like hearing this but... I had this same thing happening with a 8GB class 4 sandisk that I got off of amazon.com. I would format it. remove files, change firmware. What I found to work was to have very few amount of files on the card and it would work for a little while. Then all of a sudden, BAM the card died. I am now using my trusty 2GB card until I can get another 8GB card or bigger. I might try a kingston next time. I would backup all files to be safe. (could be a different problem but I don't know only relaying what seemed to be the problem for me)
Nope I have some good news! Its the contact between the card and DS. If you use the paper shim trick - put a thin piece of paper between the back of the card and the DS to push the card onto the contacts it stops this. M3 Real are too thin and Sakura needs a vey good contact to complete its tests and boot. The long term fix is to open the card, (one contact does not come open so don't pull) and put 3 layers of electrical tape on the back of the contacts - reassemble and try - this has cured 3 cards that had the problem for me, I hav now done this for all my cards and now it happens once a month if that - remove the cart clean the contacts and away it goes again.
Glad it wasn't something breaking on you and you got it fixed with the paper trick! Perhaps now thinking about it, maybe I was having that problem and then by not doing something to fix it I shorted my own 8GB card. However... for a long while my 8gb card just worked fine and I still think it is weird that I don't have this problem with my 2 gb card at all. so perhaps it was the card dying in my case.
So today I got my M3 Real, and I set up the SYSTEM folder, with the current firmware (4.3c) and the NDS folder. I previously had the M3 SD with the Passcard for my backups and that worked no problem. I copied my backup ROMs from that to my new M3 Real, and when I choose the game I want to play, it goes to a loading screen and stays on that screen and the game never loads. Am I doing something wrong? I also have one other question, are my .DAT save files from my old M3 SD able to be used on the M3 Real, because it automatically created .SAV save files when I attempted to load a game. Thanks in advance for the help.
few things to do. 1. check for fake. does box say m3adapter.com or m3adaptes.com. you can also check m3adapter.com for other ways to see if it is a fake. if it is a fake you can either return it and buy a real one... or use the firmware off of m3adaptes.com and lose compatibility and features. 2. The m3 real works with unmodified roms. I've never used the old m3 sd so don't know if you had to patch them first or anything so don't know if this pertains to you. anyway use unpatched and unshrunk roms because I know those work. 3. http://shunyweb.info/ can be used to convert save files to different formats. new firmwares no longer use the .0 save format. so you can try to see if it works. also try converting to other types. 4 try other troubleshooting techniques. so try different firmwares, I like sakura, try different sd card and try anything else earlier on in this forum that has helped other people.
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.2728 Can anyone verify DealExtreme on reliability please?? Thanks in advance
Thats the one to get - I have had several from them and apart from the wait - up to 3 weeks they are great. They sell the fake ones too - but at least they give you the choice unlike other sites
My problem was that I had the ROMs patched from my old M3, which was causing them not to work, and that site for the saves worked too so thanks a lot
I want to purchase the M3DS but i was wondering whether or not the GBA Expansion works the original DS Thanks p.s need to know before Thursday when i will order it or A.S.A.P
No the GBA expansion does not work in the original DS. The GBA and Rumble pak are both the same size as the dust cover (Empty GBA cart) for the DSLite which is in the DSLite when you buy it and the same size as the Opera browser for DSLite.
If you buy the perfect pack (the one from dealextreme) they include the following shells, white, black and smoke effect (for the Lite) and a smoke effect for the Phat. Just make sure you are getting all the shells from where you order from. If unsure order the M3 and the GBA pack on its own from dealextrem - that includes the Phat shell too.
I have another question now, is it possible to get an already patched ROM to work on here, without re-downloading it? The only reason I'm not re-downloading it is because I hacked into the ROM a while back(Mario Kart DS) and edited the online course selection, so obviously if I re-download the MKDS ROM, it won't be my modified ROM.
Personal Opion: I have not seen any tools for doing what you request doing here. I don't know what it patches. If you could find out potentially you could open both a mario kart rom and your current one and replace only the needed parts then repackage the rom. Max Crass method did this to replace arm7 files. but could potentially be used on any files saying you could find out what m3 patches.
