thanks again. i'm not sure what one of them is compared to a 'normal' micro sd card but i will find out tomorrow when i buy one!
My assumption would be yes, but I have never checked this. I can confirm that a SanDisk MicroSDHC 6GB Class 4 card works fine as that's the card I use.
Yes I would recommend it over the R4/M3DSS. My M3 DS Simply has not been touched since receiving my M3 Real. The only downside to the Real over the R4/M3DSS is the GUI is alot slower but I consider it a small price for the added features, nice look and of course SDHC support. (And the speed of the GUI could be improved in future firmware updates)
Ok Thank you very much! what is GUI? I have found this place: www.modchipfitters.com that sells M3 REAL PERFECT BUNDLE PACK *ENGLISH** to the UK £39.99 is that good?
GUI stands for Graphical User Interface (basically the menus etc.) I have never used modchipfitters.com I bought my M3 Real from www.addictsupplies.com for £32.99 + £2.49 postage, arrived two days later (Royal Mail 1st Class Recorded). Also have very good customer service. The M3 Real perfect bundle is currently out of stock there but the home page says they're expecting more sometime next week.
Mr hanky, Is your card a Sandisk a japanese card? I wondering if the issue still exist with Castlevania as it relates to the M3 Simply device. I usually stick with Kingston as I can get them locally and confirm that they are Japanese manufactured. I have gotten burned with mail order Kingstons getting cards made in Taiwan or elsewhere. I's the orgin not an issue with class 6? Hopefully 4GB and 6GB cards will drop in price now that Sandisk has announced there 12Gig micro card!
Thanks, I have just been thinking I don't really need the Bundle as only want to play Back Ups and MP3's etc Am I correct?
AFAIK my card is not a Japanese card, I just bought any card as I had my 1GB Kingston to fall back on should it not work. I have not seen anyone complaining that Castlevania does not work but I have not tested it myself (completed both games on my Simply ages ago). I do have both Castlevania games on my Real so I will load up POR and do some testing. Just got to finish the level i'm at on Super Mario World first UPDATE: Just spent a few minutes testing CastlevaniaOR trying all the usual ways to freeze the game - goign in and out of the ghost room repeatedly, teleporting to a from worlds, pausing/unpausing etc. Also no slowdown during the intro video. For DS-only operation you only need the M3 Real, this includes DS games/homebrew, music, videos and pictures.
For using snes/gb/gbc/any other emulator, do I need a gba expansion? are there any for slot 1 devices like the m3 real?
Play.com £29.99 Things like SD cards I prefer to buy from reputable companies with warranties etc. To use the in-built emulators you need the GBA expansion, but there are plenty of DS mode emulators you can download. I don't use emulators on my DS as I have a PSP for that so you'll have to do some research into what emulators are the best.
Hi, Up until now I have been using an M3 DS Simply which has been fine for purposes. However the 2Gb card was getting full, so I have invested in an M3 DS Real with a 4Gb card (formatted to FAT32). I have followed the setup (thanks for that Mr Hanky) but am having problems. All .nds files are in the NDS folder, but when I choose this from the main menu all I get is a blank file list screen with 'Loading' displayed in the middle. I have left it for 10 minutes with no results. There are currently only 67 files in the NDS folder, 30 of which are .sav files. I have tried system files 2.7d and 2.9 and both have the same problem. Am I doing something stupid, or do you think there is something wrong? Any help or ideas would be most appreciated.
I had this happen with my GBA folder once, not sure what caused it, but I simply backed up my card, formatted it, put everything back on and it worked fine.
I've gotten that behaviour three times so far myself. As mr_hanky said, just by pulling your saves and roms off the SD card, formatting, and putting them back will clear it. IIRC, I fixed it without having to actually format it--just copy off, erase, and re-copy.
How did you make the cheat file for the GBA games? I've got this working for DS games but for the life of me I can't get my gba cheats to enable, I can get them to display but nothing happens when I tried to enable them. Any suggestions?? Thanks
I haven't actually used any cheats since that post. I have no idea how to make the GBA cheats files as I simply downloaded a rar file from the M3 website which was full of them. I just did a quick test with two games, Metal Slug and Bomberman tournament. I chose Metal Slug as it refused to use RTS when I was playing last week (no menu appeared) and as I predicted the cheats did not work with it (cheat menu did not appear). Bomberman however worked fine, the game loaded and the cheat menu appeared before the game started, i tried a few cheats and it worked fine. Is there a particular game that does not work for you or is it all of them?
First things first, excellent guide mr_hanky - if not the best on the web. Secondly what kind of cheat engine does the GBA emulator onboard the M3 DS Real use? Also, are there any codes for Pokemon Emerald/Leaf Green for it?
