Thanks for the reply. I went through all the folders and files on the card and still the same loading screen freeze. I guess i am going to buy a new card going kingston or sandisk this time.

    Hi Mr. Hanky!

Well thanks to you and your guides I have been cooking on my M3 for months now.

Until... the 1.04 firmware final update. I can not seem to get the link at http://down.gbalpha.com/Softwares/M3adapter/M3DS_Simply/System_v1.04-English.zip to work. There is a final out of the 1.04 that supports the cheat.dat and usrcheat.dat files and supposedly comes with a cheat.dat.

I am trying to use my blank cheat.dat and full usrcheat.dat with the new firmware but all I have is 1.04b (beta) and I believe I need the final to use this.

Any ideas oh mighty DS brain trust? What about you XBuster? One of the two of you should be able to clear this up. Thanks in advance.

It works great until I try to use it ... lol

Kwicklix seems to be down, no links and old firmware. Dualscene only has old firmware too. ??????

    Hello everyone,
just like to say that I have bought a R4DS thanks to this thread (only £15.50 delivered)
Hopefully there will be some good gaming and homebrew to come.

You ROCK!!!!!!! Thank you. Now if I can just figure out how to tell the cheat.dat and usrdheat.dat files what the (M) codes is. Right now this is allegedly impossible :( I don't understand how it accesses the memory hook though and can not tell for sure...

Thanks again you are a saint!

Maybe not the right thread for it, but...

My latest delivery of M3DSS is currently sat "awaiting" customs charging. This is the first time this has happened to me - does anyone else have experience of packages getting through charged or not ? is it just down to luck ?

Bad Luck really, I am constantly recieving packages form places such as China and have found that 95% of my things get through fine.
They'll charge you the normal tax plus a fee for their time (usually only about £1-£2 )

I have also noticed that anything delivered by DHL has a much higher chance of a charge, plus you won't know for a week or so as they pay it for you then send you the invoice (which although useful it can screw up profit margin charts ¬_¬)

Hey MR Hanky - would you or someone else mind answering this please :

I've been looking through this thread and both threads for the guides to wetup, sorry but a bit new to this sort ;))
Just simply i want to know which hardware to buy, and if i am choosing everything i need :

    http://www.modchipstore.com/R4-DS-R4DS-Slot-1-solution-homebrew-backups-microsd-16424.html

    http://www.modchipstore.com/M3-DS-Simply-Slot-1-solution-homebrew-backups-microsd-16418.html

Either of them do the same job?

Then i need this yeah :

    http://www.divineo.co.uk/cgi-bin/div-uk/process.html?id=NjAfa6qM
    or here for less $$ .. .http://meritline.stores.yahoo.net/kingston-1gb-micro-sd-card.html

    Any other hardware needed?

I know it sounds simple above, but the difference betwene the 2 articles is confusing.

    cheers!

To put it as easily as possible: Both the R4 and M3 DS Simply do the exact same thing. Heck, if I'm not mistaken, they are also manufatured within the same company. The only differences I've noticed were within the software updates. And even those are within par of each other.
To answer your second question: whichever Micro SD card you choose (1Gb or 2Gb) is the only other thing you would need. Both the R4 and M3 DS Simply come with a mini disk loaded with the software you would need to finish the job. You are safe with choosing either. I hope that helps you out.

Hey all, thanks for all the help from before.

I found out my problem. I need a driver for the MicroSD/TransFlash Adapter that goes into the SD card reader on a computer. No idea where to look. Any help?

For the actual MicroSD - SD adapter? I wouldn't think so :/ all that does is remap the pins.

However I find driverguide.com by far the best source of drivers.

It's either that, well lets put it like this:

My "USB SD Reader USB Device" has no idea what an SD card is. It says there is a driver missing.

Sounds more likely to be a problem with the SD card reader rather than the MicroSD-SD adapter. Does it recognise standard SD cards?

I recently purchased the M3 DS Simply Slot 1 (MicroSD) for Nintendo DS (Lite).

Now i'm preparing to format my microSD card, what's the best format? FAT32 or FAT16?

I personally haven't had problems with any kind of format, but have read of users that have suffered if they don't use standard FAT or FAT16 formatting.

I have yet to see a pdf reader for the M3. txt files can be read using moonshell, but sorry, cannot help on this.

I also have been following this thread and I have also decided to take the dive into the DS Homebrew scene. I ordered the M3 DS Simply
from modchipstore. I got a great deal on some microSD cards, a 1GB and
2GB card on Amazon for $32. Sweet. I should recieve all of this within the next 2-3 days.

I plan on using the homebrew primarily for making music
via Nitrotracker and some other progs I found. The DSOrganize
and NDS Mail also seem pretty nice. For the musicstuffs, I plan
    on using the 2GB card.

The other card (1GB) I would like to use for games and maybe some apps. I wouldn't mind using it to store some pics because putting pics on the iPod is nothing short of a pain in the tuckus. Being that I have a 80GB 5gen video iPod, listening to music and watching movies
are not an option I plan on using.

I have a question though. If I'm not planning on using the DS for music and vids, do I still need to install Moonshell? I wouldn't
mind using it to read .txt files, so maybe I answered my own question. I just want to make sure.

I'll also make sure to update after I get everything up and running.

You certainly don't need to install moonshell, it's just that the middle icon on the M3DSSimply is "hard coded" to launch "_DS_MSHL.NDS".

You can rename any application (or game, IPOD emulator etc.) to this file name and it will launch from the middle icon.

Personally, I only use it for music so I use the homebrew IPOD on my middle icon.
