My M3 came in the mail today. Awesome product. It came with the metallic USB card reader, and it seems to be working just fine so far.

Try removing and re-inserting the card, sometimes you have to push it in just a bit further than you would a regular game card. If it continues doing this though, you may want to contact the people you bought it from for a replacement.

Neckback - I had the same exact problem. Scroll up some posts and look for my post here. I even included pictures. Even without anything on the microSD card, the M3DS should still boot up on your DS, and mine never did. It just acted like no game pack was inserted.

Turns out mine was broken, and I've had to go through hell to get it replaced. I'm STILL without my replacement, but they e-mailed me back a couple days ago saying they will re-ship it back soon.

Did you happen to buy from consolesource.com? Anyway, good luck. Hopefully you'll have an easier time. :)

You could try this as a last resort. I did an earlier post about cleaning contacts ^^^^it's up that way somewhere^^^^ or maybe <<<< that way by now !

If that doesn't work, (I've fixed one like this), try GENTLY flexing the bottom of the M3 in the direction that would apply more pressure to contacts. IE with gold facing you at bottom, pull bottom of cart towards you GENTLY then retry. Let me know!

I'm really enjoying the M3 Simply. The guide in the OP was of tremendous help. Thanks again!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a slot-2 device to be used as a companion to the M3 Simply? I really like how the EZ Flash 3-in-1 Expansion Pack has a rumble pack included, but I wasn't positive on how well it works with the M3 Simply. Is the EZ Flash the best choice? I'm sorry if there's already an answer to this question in this thread. I'm a little too tired to scroll through twenty pages at the moment.

First of all, thank you Mr. Hanky for this guide. It is extremely well written and has all the information one could ask for regarding the M3. It convinced me to order an M3 and hopefully it should be arriving sometime this week.

I just bought a SanDisk 1GB MicroSD in anticipation of the arrival of my M3 and am currently filling it with roms and all that stuff. My question is this... when using SNES/NES emulators that are designed for the DS, can I just download any SNES/NES ROM and add it to the memory card or do I have to do something special to the ROM itself? I noticed the emulators already have an .nds file extension so those seem to be perfectly fine. I would try it out instead of asking on the forum, but like I said, my M3 won't be arriving till sometime this week and I am curious as to what to do with these SNES/NES games. Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm not much of an expert when it comes to emulation on the DS (I use my PSP for that) but from what i've read on this forum i believe that you do not need to do anything to the NES/SNES roms for them to work. Last time I checked not all that many SNES roms worked perfectly on the DS but this may have changed, also depending what SNES emulator you use you may have to place the SNES roms in a folder named SNES for them to be seen.

Hi, Ive just bought a DS and m3. I followed the guide and have put a few ROMs onto the m3 but when i try to run the roms i get the error "this types of files currently not allowed to operate". Anyone able to shed some light on this problem?

Sounds like you still have them in their compressed files (.zip or .rar) you need to open the file and copy the .nds onto your MicroSD.

Though I havn't experienced this on my M3, I have had the same problem on my PSP, try defragmenting your microSD and see if it fixes it.

You can defrag by connecting your microsd to your computer, right-clicking on it, going to properties->tools->defragmentation

    :(

I've currently run into a problem with the spring mechanism in my M3 Simply. The MicroSD card will not "click in" very easily into the slot anymore, and I have to push the card a few times to click in, otherwise it just pops back out. I'm kind of surprised that I've run into this problem, because I don't believe I was ever too rough with it.

The M3 still works, but will the spring mechanism get worse as time goes on? I'm not much of a tech guy, but is there a way I can fix it that's not too difficult?

Perhaps I should try to return it and get a replacement? :(

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer.

You might want to return it, but it's your choice. The spring in my M3 broke completely, but that is becuase my brother took it and tried to force the microsd in the wrong way. Currently using an EZFlash and missing my M3 :-(

EDIT: WTF Afterdawn! we don't need auto-links to your hardware section!I didn't even write force with a capital....urgh...

Thanks again for your input, mr_hanky. I do appreciate it.

Is this a pretty common problem with the M3 Simply? I'd hate for the same thing to happen again if I get a new one.

I have seen it mentioned on various forums a few times, but the ratio of broken reports to the number of M3's probably sold would lead me to suspect it's unlikly. I'm going to get a new M3 soon, but i'm gonna use points i'm saving on dealextreme to get it for free. (and then I can throw my crappy EZFlash back in a drawer)
