FYI,,aD is a learning forum, as in trying to impart knowledge into your life that will last at least until you can burn a simple DVD. If you want to "read the directions" buy a proggie. They come with them. If you want to learn something, read the guides and look thru the posts. If your life is too full to do these simple little things fella,,, I suggest you save a lot of time and go to WalMart and buy your DVD's. Happy Burning :>)

    Razz,

I have been reading on this forum for awhile now and this is the first time I've seen Pete say anything about his accident. I admit he has a weird sense of humor and takes getting used to but I consider myself weird too so it don't bother me.

As for your last post, I think you are way out of line. Do you believe in karma? I doubt it since you seem to be such a prick, but I do. What comes around, goes around. Watch out your time might be coming someday.

    Bigfoot...
So it seems you don't know how to read my opening post either. I have not yet bought a DVD player and am trying to learn what I can before I buy it. AND as my thread states, I HAVE been reading threads and going throught the GUIDEs.

The questions I asked have not been answered anywhere so as a "newbie" I thought I would ask.

*** There is no thread in Guide on how to burn a Duel Layer Disk

*** There is no mention about Compression differences and quality issues

My bad was asking.... what does ISO and TS stand for

I"m a member to a few other forums dealing with diffent things and no one have ever responded to a simple question the way this one has been...

    GREAT JOB GUYS!!!!

    Servin,

Thanks for your concern but I treat people the way they treat me. I don't pitty people and I tell it like it is. Pete got a piece of my mind because...

    HE ASKED FOR IT!

    Razz1234,
Hi In answer to your first question which Pete did answer here is a guide on burning DVD9 to DVD9
    http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shrink.cfm

To your second question about compression there are 25 post's on this forum here
    http://www.afterdawn.com/search/search_results.cfm#results

OK that took me all of 5 seconds to find on here. Less time than it probably took you to write your post. I have nothing against you nor do I fell pitty for Pete, but I have been on this forum alot and I can tell you this Pete has helped more people on here than anyone else I know. I know they get tired of answering the same questions over & over all he was doing was trying to help you help yourself. You need to get a little thicker skin and not take everything so personal. If you are truly trying to educate yourself and learn all of this out before purchaqsing a DVD Player or Writer then why would you take what one person writes on this forum as gospel anyway(no offense Pete)? Wouldn't you be doing a little research and look in several areas of this forum and browse the internet so that you have several aspects to choose from so you could make an informed decision. That is why you should take the time to read threw the forum which you stated didn't have the answers to your questions, but I found them here in about 5 seconds. Well I have spent enough time on this and I am in no way trying to insult you or do I mean any harm. I hope you find out everything you need. Here is where you could have found answer's to your later questions. What does ISO stand for
    http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/iso.cfm

and this is where you would have found TS
    http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/video_ts.cfm

I highly doubt if you even bothered looking for them, and I'm not really even sure why I bothered answering your post except that maybe this will end your childish behavior (why do I doubt that) Anyway good luck with all your future post's on here as I doubt to many people will try to help you out now.

    @bbmayo,
That guide is for backing up to a single layer.
And you might give us your search words because I got "search again" when I tried that link.

    @Razz1234
I do believe that most will agree with me, but I consider a Glossary to be reference material. And your question was what is an ISO and Video TS file, both of which can be found in the Glossary.

As for Pete wanting pitty, I can guarantee you that is nowhere near the truth. I've been learning and helping in here for nearly six months, and this is the first time I've ever seen him openly explain his condition in a thread. If I know Pete, then I do believe that he was trying to convey to you that it really wouldn't have been easier to explain what you wanted to know instead of jokingly telling you that you were being lazy and to look it up for yourself.

    @ zyppyd & Razz,
I am aware that guide is for single layer. I forgot to explain myself I'm sorry.

Razz you can use that guide to back up DVD9 to DVD9 the only thing you need to do in shrink (which the guide dosent show) is click on "edit" go to "preferences" and select under target size "DVD-9". Everything else is the same. You just need to change that one setting first.

Oh yeah and my second link I used "compression" as my search word. (I was trying to get Raz1234 to do a little something fo himself ;-)

    OKAY
Zippy, you are right and I was too rough on Pete.

    BBMAYO,
lets take a look at your response.

    1. Your firts answer in NOT what I was asking, If you READ my questions, I'm looking for a thread on "How to" burn a DVD-9 to a DVD-9.

    2. My second question was basically, "how do I avoid compression.." All the burning software including DVD Shink compresses the DVD is some way or another. I wanted to find out how to avoid ANY compression. I want to burn DVD-9 to DVD-9 so I don't need to compress

    3. Your second link takes me to the SEARCH engine where I typed in "compression" There are a number of threads there. I went through the ones that looked promising in answering my question of how to avoid compression.....My answer was not found and it took me a hell of a lot longer than 5 sec. If your going to tell me how easy it is to look things up then mabey you should have done it first. Go ahead and YOU actually look at them, here are a few:

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/74058

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/128577

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/127980

    http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/118017

None of them answer my question.

    4. You state I have not been doing any reseach but my opening statement SHOWS you that I have.

This is the forum where NEW people come to ask questions that others know. They are probably very common to those who have been around for a while. Newbie are going to have questions and make mistakes, you should understand this. I can't believe the attitudes in this forum and it sure the hell is not what should be thrown at a newcomer looking for help. This site has some of the better information i have found but the rudest comments for ANY begginer forum i have ever been to.

The only reason this thead has gone on so long is because I'm probably the only "Newbie" in a while who has stood up for himself when insulted by arrogant "no it alls"

Razz I am sorry you feel that way. In my earlier post I showed you how to make a DVD-9 to DVD-9 back up. I hope this helps you. Just a word of advise don't be so rude to people that are truly trying to help you. I have no hard or ill feelings towards you. I just assumed you wanted to know about compression differences?

That is why I posted that search. You could also make a back up of DVD-9 to DVD-9 in Decypter simply choose ISO read then ISO write.

In my nearly three years and 8,200 posts here that is, without a doubt, the most sickeningly callous statement I've ever heard. I myself have been disabled for the last three years and have experienced my fair share of uninformed remarks regarding disabilities. Pete's "pity post" was meant to rouse awareness but was seemingly wasted upon you.

What makes you think the rest of us don't?

I lurked at AD for at least 6 months reading and learning before I ever joined. When I finally joined I had enough knowledge to begin helpnig others with their "stupid little questions".

Nice post bbmayo, BUT he doesn't want what you gave him either. It would require that he click his little mousie thingie and as he's already stated, he wants his answers typed out. Clicking his mouse by his-own-self is far too much time and trouble and he has no time for the likes of that.

Just an update on the DVD-9 to a DVD-9 - I gave him that information about DVD Shrink's setting in my first post. I just forgot to put the "9" in but, if he would have gone that far, he would have seen it.
Using DVD Shrink with the setting of "Target size" set at DVD-9 involves zero compression BUT allows ripping and editing if the user wishes.

RAZZ1234, IF YOU WEREN'T SO LAZY YOU WOULD HAVE OPENED DVD SHRINK, USED THE DIRECTIONS I GAVE YOU AND "BULUNDERED" INTO THE DVD-9 SETTING.

as we see, he didn't have the time to follow the directions that I provided for him, way back in my first post. Kind of funny to watch him say his question wasn't answered, Huh, Guys - :D) Now we wonder, does reading takes too much of his time too. (Lol)

    Well does it Razz1234 ?

Thanks Neph but he "just doesn't get it" - The only thing he's aware of, is the fact that everyone was put on this earth to serve him -

    And,

    Razz1234,

Should you ever, ever think about giving me "pity", I suggest that you keep it and put it where it'll stay warm and toasty because I never asked for it and I certainly don't want it -

Again, you've proved to all how incredibly lazy you were for most of us have no trouble at all "clicking" our mouse - in order to learn -

Ooohhh, and that warm welcome I extended to you upon your arrival, well I want it back, I find it hard to believe you'd be welcome anywhere with that attitude of yours -
