I have a dvd rip that is in AVI format. I have used TMPG with the MPEG-2 settings and converted them to mpeg2. How do I burn these files on a dvdr that will play in a stand alone player?
I have nero for DVD. What format should i use? Should i continue with the UDF/ISO?
    thanks.

The process doesn't have anything to do with SVCD, remember that -- 480x480 or 480x576 is not valid DVD resolution. Hopefully you did use full NTSC or full PAL resolution when you re-encoded your AVIs (that is: 720x480 or 720x576) because otherwise you've pretty much wasted your time.

Anyway, if you've actually made correct sized MPEG-2 files, you now need to author the DVD disc.. Use SpruceUp to author and burn the resulting VIDEO_TS directory with Nero using UDF/ISO format.

More detailed guides can be found from here:
