    i bought the plextor 716a a couple of weeks ago and put it through the "sheep" burner test and it passed as a 2 sheep burner.i am also having lots of problems with sims2 also.even with plextor premium writer.

    Not all drives are made the same. If they were we wouldn't have to mess with sheep ratings. EFM capable DVD burners are a rare breed.

    You never answered me before - did you use the exact settings I gave you for BlindWrite 4.57? Those settings with a Plex Premium have worked for many people.

    @ Thedemon9

    Not necessarily. For example, when the PX-708A came out everyone wondered if it would have the same Varirate writing method that the Plex Premium had since Varirate worked like magic on SecuROM games but it didn't. Plextor could have if they wanted but chose not to and I guess only God and Plextor know why.

    @mykle

    I'm at a complete loss to explain why those settings with a Plex Premium didn't work. What error do you get when trying to run the copy you made with those settings?

    the error said,"please insert the correct cd and restart the game".the premium would start to read it normally for a couple of seconds and then it would sound like it is skipping.it is a weird noise that it makes.then you would get the error.

    What happens if you run the disc from your Samsung ROM?

    yes i tried verbatim,memorex and maxell.i had no problem copying the older sims versions with the same safedisc proection.i think they might of added something new to the protection or writing of the program.

    They do that with each new revision of the protection. SafeDisc 3.20 was fairly easy to beat but when they introduced 3.20.022 it was a whole new and much tougher ballgame.

    Like I said before I honestly don't know why it's not working for you. About the only idea I have at this point is for you to use A120 and use the emulation options.

    The Plextor Premium has proven to be the top drive for beating the newest protections. I've used mine to beat SafeDisc 3.20.022 as well as SecuROM 5.03. Two other top drives would be the Lite On 52327S and the Asus 5232AS.

    I am going to try Sims2 tonight. Clonecd 5.0.2.2 with Plextor 712A.
    Need to activate taskbar from start, programs, clonecd and check "hide cd-r".

    As far as I'm concerned - absolutely.
