Sleuth, what brand of DVD-RW did you use when copying your movie? Essexman suggested using only Panasonic or TDK DVD-RW disks with the Matshita SW 9581, but I can't seem to find them being sold anywhere! Those DVD-RW's are just too damned expensive to risk buying the wrong ones... Thanks.
Oedipus, I got my TDK discs off the internet, by post , I just typed into the browser "TDK DVD-RW" , and it came up with a few companies that sell DVD blanks on the U.K. net, and ordered them that way.
Hi everyone above I too am the new owner of a wonderful Time computer I have found your messages very interesting and have found the answers to problems that have been driving me nuts, the one thing I am glad to find out is that it is not becuse I'm stupid that I have experianced these problems and above all I'm not alone Thanks to every one. I have welcomed your advice as I begrudge giving Time my money when talking to them
I also have the time powerstation and when i try to burn a disc with the latest version of Nero it brings up a warning saying "It looks like both your source and destination drives for 'on the fly copy'processes are connected to the same IDE bus. We strongly recommened that you connect your source and destination drives to different IDE buses." Does anyone no what this means and how to fix it?
To Berny I am no expert, but did install a cd burner on my old computer, and the instructions warned not to commutate it to the same IDE connector (multiway ribbon cable) as the DVD player , and in fact if you had shared drives on the same bus , one to go to "master" and one to "slave".To sum up looks like your computer DVD and Burner are sharing a common cable , maybe hardware, maybe software. You may have to ask experts elsewhere on forum . best of luck
Hi all on reading all your posts on this burner i bieng a technician got to fit one for one of my customers.Man that was some mistake they made buying the matshita sw 9571. DJPHEONIX I had the same problem and after trying all angles and i mean all angles i made them return the burner to the shop who took 3 days to "TEST" They said the drive was faulty in the end but also said that if you dont take care when inserting the cd then it wont read them hmmmmmmmmmmmmm you have to slide the cd forward then drop it back under the 2 white lugs.....Ok now we read all cd's still not convinced no way can i get this to burn a movie on aanything else but a TDK-RW USING DVD COPY X any other cd will fall out of bed at 30% i ahve come to the conclusion that at this stage they have bought an expensive cd burner which it does very well.Thank goodness i only used the evaluation copy of dvd copyx after reading all these posts which is what i wish these people would have done first Arthmowe
Same drive, same computer, same problems! Tried the TDK dvd-rw with a software bundle consisting of DVD-shrink (free!) and copy to dvd ($39 US). it works a treat! Disks are available from www.kvjfairdeal.com (Whitechapel, London) for 3.5 pounds sterling each. Not bad value. Have not tried the dvd-r yet but hoping they'll work. Same shop 2.5 pounds sterling for these. Thanks for all your help in pointing me in the right direction.
Bieng in Australia we pay 12 dollars for a dvd-rw that makes it a bit expensive to back up a movie collection. I see the ricoh is coming out soon.
I already mentioned it once but datawrite classic red and "ice" branded 4x dvd-r both work fine in the matsushita dvd ram / time setup and are both available for £1 or less if you look around, stating at SVP communications
Hi all, please help I bought the TDK DVD-RW but they still do not play on my DVD player any suggestions?
As far as I know the dvd-rw disks have to be finalised before they will play in a normal dvd player. The burning programme should automatically do this.
Re DVD-RW , a stand alone player cannot read DVD Rewritables , nor CD Rewritables , it will show "no disk" , it is a function of the dye surface reflectivity etc of the discs ,most players cannot read the RW media, unless of course it specifically says so in the manual. The computer is the only thing that can read these discs, I just use them to verify my data is ok , then burn from DVd-RW onto DVD_R
Thanks for that one I am finally begining to understand this, it's nice to know my purchases were not in vain, but funilly enough my DVD player actually reads Sony CD-RW's and will replay the audios
Hi all i have got the burner to work using dvd-r discs to back up my movie collection. The people who i fitted this for gave it me to try and sought it out at home.I installed the burner without using any of the software or drivers that came with it and left Nero on my system.Fitting it on IDE2 as a Master and my other burner as a slave. And using Dvd Decrypter as the copying program. Yes the humble Dvd decrypter does a fantastic job i have up to yet done 8 movies.
I guess i have been lucky,as i too have the time powerstation, with the 9581 drive,i have been able to make copies without any problems using instant copy,i use either princo dvd-rw or mirror platinum media, both work absolutly fine for me,and both play in my lg dvd player.in addition to the matshita,i have a dvd rom,and a liteon 24102B,which i think is the dogs for cd burning. i am happy with the matshita at present as it does what i ask first time every time, without one coaster so far, fingers crossed.
Well up to yet we seem to be doing ok with dvd decrypter i can use -rw and -r.I am working on getting rid off the subtitles and add ons and using Nero to burn.Nero had a big issue with the original software that came with this burner and since deleting all referance to the original drivers and software it seems to have come good........
hi, i have a time powerstation 3809,ive had loads of proplems with pinnical and the mashita(panasonic) sw9581.so i uninstalled pinnical and use nero for burning cd's and dvd x express for buning dvd's.but if you want perfect backups of dvd's every time that will play on most players use smart ripper to burn to your hard drive on backup mode , dvd 2 one to compress the movie only then burn to disk with copy to dvd.since i started useing this methed it takes a bit longer but ive had no more coasters.ps datawrite 2x rytek dye yellow+datawrite dvd rw green work great.
lanman...Thats great.Using DVD Decrypter and DVDtoONE i managed to get 2 movies on one generic DVD and it works real good so there is hope yet.....I really think that DVDXCOPY EXPRESS has issues with the drivers and programs that come with the burner and since not installing anything just fitting it and lettting windows do its own thing i have had no trouble.....
