MB in graphics cards

    With the new games coming out, I would recommend a 256MB card above X700. In fact I would get the X700 and save yourself a bit of money instead.

    The Mb will effect card performance as the more you have on the card the more instructions/data can be held(on card) and therefore can be accesed faster.
    However it isnt the only factor for performance, the speed of the on board memory and archetechture are important.
    Also the other card you mention (your friends?) with the lower Mb may be in a quicker system - you really need to test the cards with the same cpu, main memory etc to compare them.
    If you could give an idea your budget it would be easier to recomend a new card.
