Not sure exactly what I'll use it for, but no doubt it'll come in handy somewhere on my new build. I'd love to be able to harness an X1900XT's power to encode DVDs. I don't have to do it often but it's so tedious!
yeah ati came out with avivo shortly after I got my x800.So I don't get it...sob That x1900xt sounds awesome.I can't afford one lol.
Lol I can't really, but I decided to do it anyway. I was all set on a much cheaper X1900GT then was told it was "discontinued" so rather than settle for something like an X1800XL I decided to just go all out and get the X1900XT. I have an X800 already, so I know about the later release of AViVo!
Nice! I only have a 15in(1024x768) monitor so for me mine is still doing good for most games.I can't max everything out but I can still max some games out. When I bump up to a 19in though I think I will have to get a new one for the higher res. Mines not overclocked either and is just a x800gt/gto so it's pipes are cut in half. It's basically a beefed up x700 with better ram and a better gpu.I heard I could unlock the extra pipes but found that mine wasn't able.
Damn! I knew I shouldn't have bought that CRT! Nah I got it because it can do all resolutions at good picture quality. 2048x1536 is a bonus, I use 1600x1200 in windows because anything above is too small on an 18" visible area! I'm looking forward to playing FEAR. My current machine just falls to pieces when I open it, It shoots well over my RAM limit as soon as I hit the menu screen, it even jerks on the intro. I get about 5 frames per second on the first bit when he's in the car. I've no idea why, to this day, that happens. It's like it's being software rendered or something! I can Doom 3 at 1280x1024 and UT04 at 1920x1200 nicely, but I know that Doom 3 and UT04 aren't the limit of games any more, so to get good resolutions in the future I'll need something badass. Enter the X1900XT. I didn't bother getting a massively souped up CPU and Mobo because they're just not necessary. Besides with a Zalman I can OC a 4200+ later on if I wish. Arctic Silver should help too!
