    Hi!
I downloaded MPC months ago and it worked great - but now it suddenly disappeared from my play options, when I want to open any kind of video file (even browsing doesn't work). Any idea what might have caused it?? The player is still on my computer, it just doesn't register when opening a file... I even downloaded it again - newer version - and it's the same! Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm at my rope's end here!

Did you get the standalone MPC or the one included in the 'CCCP' codec pack, from my experience standalone doesn't actually INSTALL it whereas the CCCP provides all the codecs you need and registers the media player too. Just a hunch though.
Try uninstalling it and using the one included in the CCCP pack instead if you haven't done so already.

Right click a multimedia file, like an avi or an mpeg, and then choose "open with", and then browse to the file mplayerc.exe and then click OK. That will add MPC to the list of options. You can check "always use this program to open files of this type" if you want.

I think the OP already tried that.

Your hunch was right, Darkhadou - I installed it through CCCP and now it's working again! Thanks a heap (and to all others who replyed)!
