@lee73 Sorry I couldn't be of more help. It seems the ata storage conroller is stopping you from udgrading your firmware. Check intel's site to see if there is any workaround.
i had a similar problem when i (briefly) had 2 Lite-on 1693S's. the only way i got firmware to update was by cheating, i hooked the drives up to another pc and voila, firmware done; then i jusgt put drives back in original pc
