Member Levels?

And how can we check how many post...and if i have enough when do i level up?

 

go to the my account page. you'll see it there. and i wouldn't count on being a moderator, you have to be appointed by another one. scroll up to see how posts to level up

 

Why does every new member (including myself) ask this question everytime. I think we should have member level STICK. What do you guys think?

 

I asked because most people probably don't want advice from a newbie, and I know enough to help some people.

 

and also because i've made 70 posts and i'm still a newbie

 

it would be kinda cool if it was an automatic thing

ACDC_3101, you will be promoted soon enough, you need to have a bit of patience. Don't forget quality over quantity.. You made 4 posts within a few minutes of each other, you should have just used the edit button. This sort of thing gets noticed, some would infer you were just trying to boost your post count by making pointless posts......

There is a point in a persons life when they realize that there are two choices....you can go on asking questions or you can find the answer....

 

Although making more work for the Mods, I think that user levels should reflect a persons ability to help with accurate feedback to questions, not just how many times they have posted a comment.

When you get people responding to questions with 'sorry I don't know maybe someone else can help' as their first response, you have to ask what is going on here, and what possible reason was there to post the comment, other than taking the opportunity to add to ones tally of feedback.

I presumed when I joined those users of a certain rank had a better knowledge base and where able to provide a better level of feedback than those ranked below them, and it appears that many new members also get swayed to taking the advise of higher members over that given by those lower than them.

But again, all too often the advise and answers given by some senior members is worse than cr*p, it’s actually potentially costly or harmful to the people receiving it.
Incompatible hardware is often recommended, poor setup procedures are given and host of other basic mistakes are made.

Although no-one is forced to take any of the advise given, there is a sizable number of people using this forum that don’t even have a basic PC understanding, other than switching on and typing.

I know we are only human, and we all make mistakes, but if you are being driven by quantity of feedback rather than the quality then you are going to make far more mistakes which affect other users.

why does everybody want to be a mod so bad. i mean sure you get to moderate but to do it well it takes alot of time. prolly get fired if you suck too. its really not alot of benefits unless their gettin paid.
