Memorex blank dvd+r reading only 702MB

I just purchased a brand new container of Memorex 4.7GB DVD+r's and when I put them into my Lite-On 1633S DVD (it has the latest firmware) burner it states the DVD contains only 702MB of space. What would cause the DVD not to have 4.7GB of space?

Is there anything I could do to these DVD's to create 4.7GB of space? Format them?

It almost sounds like they mis labeled cds for dvds. Download DVDinfopro and check the media with it. see if you get the same results.

Just so you know, Memorex is not considered a good blank media at this time. They have been buying blanks from a company known for cheap/poor quality media. They have about a 50% failure rate right now.

It looks funny that the disc has almost the exact size of a CD. That would be another problem with Memorex if thats what happened.
