I am not sure if my problem is directly Nero related. One of the problems pointed out in my Nero fail logs is a lack of available memory. My hard drive crashed last month and was replaced. I have re-installed all my software on my Compaq lap top. I use Windows XP. Here is the relevant portion of my most recent log (I was attempting to burn a data DVD-R, I have produced 4 coasters and zero successes since the hard drive crash, it worked fine pre-crash): AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 66060288 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 446MB (457712kB) Free physical memory: 66MB (67952kB) Memory in use : 85 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) At the time of this attempted burn, I was coming off a fresh re-boot. On the advice of a friend, I went to: http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/ and removed what I could from the startup via msconfig. I also can terminate one other non-essential process. Current - only running (applications) firefox to post this and Windows Task Manager, my physical memory is listed as: Physical Memory (K) Total: 457712 Available 162772 Sytem Cache 220396 When I then click on Nero and go into Nero burning ROM: it changes to Available: 143972 System Cache: 204528 Any suggestions on how to free up more memory?
Shut down any virus, spyware, adware progs. Also any monitoring devices, media card monitors, cpu monitors, etc. Go into Task Manager and see what is hogging all your memory.
If you are using it for functionality yes, if you can do without it no. Try turning it off and see if there is a difference.
No, I figured I would start a thread specifically on this problem. I assumed you were done giving me advice, but thanks for the additional response.
ok, will try to help if i can. i'm not as good with the pinpointing memory hogging programs as there's so many programs out there and i don't know them all!
