missing file

    my coputer says it could not start windows because the following fi le is missing or corrupt:\windows\system32\config\system
    it also saysthat i can attempt to repair the file by starting windows setup using the original cd-rom.also says to select r at the first screen to start repair,but the problem is that my computer froze up reinstalling windows and iam at wits end .can anybody come up with any suggestions. thanks

    If you still have windows up and running, try a system restore, if you have XP, back to before you had problems, it may work. Try and save as much data as possible if you can because you may in the end have to do a total reinstall. I have never found that trying to repair works.
