The kryptviews are currently sold out and probably won't be back in stock for another few weeks.

There is now another box with a fix, the Itgates are more expensive than the Kryptviews, they are a linux based box, and as far as i know they still have them in stock in the uk, satkings are the main suppliers.

Thats not the latest firmware, your box wont update, you will have to put the keys in manually like last time, use google to search for them

i fear the inevitable has happened lads. my ignorance of all things relating to "firmware" has resulted in the missus demanding we go to sly. i googled it like you suggested and i dont know what im looking at lol. i have rte1 sci fi and a few others back but it looks like the dream is over for one stupid paddy lol, thanks anyway

It's totally a matter of personal opinion.

Both boxes are currently working on n2 in ireland, however there has been no key roll yet so we don't know what will happen then.

The Itgate is a linux based box, and there is a school of thought that says that if any of the boxes will be able to handle n3 (assuming it ever gets cracked) it will be the linux boxes. Also the Itgates can be used a satellite boxes as well, you just need to buy a sat tuner. I'm not sure of what models there, you would have to check with the suppliers. The Itgate is currently in stock with satkings (just google them) in the uk and they seem to provide decent support.

The kryptview had the first fix out, quite a while before the Itgate boxes, and is currently sold out. I think skywonder are one of the most reputable suppliers there.

Some of the regulars on here have the kryptviews and think they are great, personally i have the Itgate and think it is great, so i guess it's totally up to you.
