Hello Im using Vlc the latest one 10.5

and the files that Im playing are skipping but only on the mkv files

is the skipping because of my laptop or the version of vlc should i wait for the next version to come out.

should I or could I use any other media player that play .mkv

Try mpc-hc. In general anytime you get a problem such as this that may be performance
related (for example, the computer is too slow to handle HD MKV), you should open the
task manager and watch the CPU usage when the MKV is being played.

For some reason the new versions of VLC are rubbisk.. I'm using 1.0.x and it's fine, but I had to revert back after updating. I don't know what has gone wrong with the new versions.

Theres a lesson here.. if something works just fine why update it for the sake of having the "latest" ?? .. same goes for firefox.. the last few versions have been crap.

to be honest Ive been using vlc for a long number of years but since mkv.s came out.

    Vlc skip while using them.

But Media player classic is amazing and it runs great.

media players are fickle vlc can play some movies & not others, while mpc can play what vlc can't & also has trouble playing some that vlc can, best solution have more than one media player

    Edit:
awwww crap man this thread is old as why dredge it up
